The unofficial start to summer in Northern Michigan is HERE ☼🍒🌸
If you’re spending Memorial Day weekend in Traverse City, here’s your reminder to slow down, soak it in, and enjoy the little moments that make this place so special.
Here’s our top 5 recs:
1. Chase the last of the cherry blossoms: while the gorgeous cherry blossoms peaked a couple of days ago, there are still some gems around town to catch beautiful views, photos & smells. Hint: Old Mission Peninsula has a couple of great spots including right across from Moondance Flower Farm!
2. U-Pick at Moondance: we would love to share our spring flowers & foliage with you! We’ve got great perennials like plum cherry, bridal spirea, and even cherry blossoms from our weeping cherry tree! Plus tulips 🌷The U-Pick is self serve 9am - 7pm all weekend long, but you might want to avoid Saturday morning because…
3. Cheer on runners at the Bayshore Marathon: this is the 44th year of one of the most beautiful marathons, half marathons & 10k’s in the world! Ok we might be a little biased - Farmer Linds is the Executive Director of the that hosts & Farmer Mark helps coordinate the pacers for the race. Plus Farmer Levi is running in the kids race this year! You can cheer on the runners at the finish line at TC Central High School or pick up a spectator bus there to head to the course!
4. Take a super scenic hike: There are so many wonderful hikes in the Traverse City area, but our fave is Pyramid Point. It’s family friendly and ends with the most breathtaking views of Lake Michigan. Farm pup Panda approves too.
5. Head to the beach: Ok we know it’s still chilly - both the air & the water. But honestly, the waters of Lake Michigan are so beautiful you’ll feel like you’re in the Caribbean! Go for a beach walk, dip your toes for a minute or go all in like Farm dog Panda, cold plunge anyone? We promise it’s worth it!
Cheers to the start of summer! What would you add to the list?
