let me tell you something.

this job? it can be a lot. the pressure and expectations, of course, but also the physicality of the work. the energy it takes to observe a person’s story thoughtfully and carefully and with purpose is almost impossible to describe. so many hearts get poured into everything, everywhere, all at once, all around you. it can be a lot to take in.

i can only speak for myself, but as a photographer i know i am always chasing the single shot. the frame that will wrap the months upon months of planning into a single image. the photo that will do it all justice. that will show the beauty and the honesty and the intimacy of the day. the one frame that, when i look at it, i stop. i can feel the sun, i can smell the sea, i can hear their voices. photography has a way of transporting us in a way that no other art form can. it shows us our reality, but in an unrealistic way because it’s frozen. a snapshot. we can really look at a photograph of a person, of a couple.

it’s what has always drawn me to photography.

& for me, this photo is it for madison & george. that sun going down on the west side of the tetons last summer, then freshly married, running back to their friends and family. not a damn care in the world. they’re free. together.

i have always been drawn to interior design because how a space is curated has such a visceral, immediate effect on how i feel. it’s why i love photographing people in their homes. you get to peek inside what matters most to them. our homes are so incredibly personal, so much of our life is lived within those walls, so it’s always special to get to spend time with someone in a place they’ve put together so thoughtfully and intentionally.

i knew i wanted to photograph .ritual.tattoo in her home from the very first moment i stepped into her space for a tattoo. not only was it beautiful and interesting and eclectic, she is such a light of a human, i couldn’t imagine photographing her anywhere else.

we spent an afternoon just chit chatting and walking through her world. we collaborated on every bit, talking ideas and astrology and life all the while.

thank you for inviting me into your incredible space. it’s nothing short of MAGIC. 🌈💫🪺🐶🍒
