As a farmer, this is the shortest day of the year… daylight is at a premium, I get down because it’s cold, gray, and the days aren’t just long enough. But today, and every day that follows, they get longer!!!!

Don’t let them fool you! They have plenty of access to fresh CLEAN water 😂. Hens just are attracted to the sound of running water! Would like one day to make a fountain style drinker for them in the winter….

Our sows never seem
To want to stay in the shelters we have for them, they’d rather sleep under the stars and bask in the morning sun!

They are such rugged animals it never ceases to amaze me just how tough they are.

Perhaps my favorite of all our animals are our sows!

I try to spoil them when I can. When it’s cold out, sometimes eggs freeze. We feed those frozen eggs to our sows. I don’t feel bad at all admitting Scarlet is my favorite. She has a very calm disposition, and is the best mother out of all of our sows.
