Today marks 18 years of owning my own business! It’s hard to believe it’s been that long; time has really flown. It seems like just yesterday it was June 1, 2008 and I was moving into my first space in Olde Tollgate Village - my older son spent all of Memorial Day weekend that year helping me paint, stock merchandise, and get everything up and running! It was a lot to learn for a newbie to business, with just a Degree in Graphic Design to get me through.
In 2010 I moved, to another spot in Olde Tollgate Village, and I learned more than anyone *ever* wants to know about zoning, Uniform Construction Code, leases and amendments, and, yes, civil court. But, it all worked out, and we enjoyed the new larger space until 2021, when we downsized and moved to the current space - smaller, but probably my favorite of the three: sunny, happy, and in a building with a dozen other fantastic small businesses and other owners who have become friends. (It doesn’t hurt that it’s a three-minute walk from my house!)
I’ve been so fortunate to have couples who have chosen me to handle the details of one of the most important days of their life! I’ve had wedding invitation customers come back for children’s birthdays, Christmas Cards, anniversary parties, and anything else they were celebrating. I’ve had clients become friends, and I love keeping up with everything they have going on. I cannot thank my clients enough for trusting me with the details of their milestones in life.
I was blessed with fantastic employees who helped to figure out systems, printers and specifications all while on-the-job - having fantastic employees helping me navigate owning a business and figure out the day-to-day was absolutely invaluable. I could not have done it without them.
I’ve loved learning and growing and building this business with friends, family and clients, and I truly hope that I’m fortunate enough to do this for another 18 years!
