Artichokes are Amazing: They’ve Got Heart

Artichokes: Because Spinach Needed Competition I’m sure artichokes are a familiar food, but do you incorporate them in your meal planning? Artichokes are often considered a vegetable but are actually a type of thistle. This plant variety originates in the Mediterranean, subsequently used for centuries due to its potential medicinal properties. Today, the artichoke industry is largely based in California. I’ve grown up enjoying this culinary fare at family gatherings and hope you will too....

Artichokes are often considered a super food, low in calories, high in fiber and antioxidants. Life is better with an artichoke in it!!!

Kiwi: The Mighty Micro-Fruit

Kiwi Contributions Kiwifruit is botanically classified as a berry, while native to the mountains and hillsides of southwest China originally known as the Chinese gooseberry. Kiwi is grown in other places such as New Zealand and domestically in California. This probably isn’t the typical fruit people consume on a regular basis. It has brown fuzzy skin, green flesh and lots of tiny black edible seeds inside. ...

Kiwi, not your every day fruit, but low-calorie and nutrient dense. Give this quirky fuzzy fruit a chance this season.
