It was Early May 2000 - this young lady came up to my counter at JCPenny - ready to cash out and of course - ask the same questions I had to answer 1 millions times per day - Where you from? Oh Trinidad ..and what’s your name ? Dougla ? Oh ok DjDougla …
I’m from Trinidad too - what you doing here? And that’s when I knew we’ll click right away ! I promised her when my Dj Truck Hit that road - it’ll be a New Beginning for Orlando Carnival - she laughed till the week before Carnival
I was pumping on 1680 AM and Miss Carol Cudjoe and her Husband Vernon (Orlando Island Boys ) walked into the studio with Scrunter - of course I sent Scrunter packing - His Exact words to Vernon was “ He knew ah was Comin ?” lol NO? So where he get all my music from (I had cd’s back then )
When the sample hit “DjDougla/Powerlinehd” - Carol stepped up - Wait is you!! You was serious ! Look thing !! She told Vernon about our little acquaintance and he looked at me and smiled “Boy nobody doh challenge this woman you know “ my reply was simple - please tell her walk with 2 Jacks to plug into my System - cause when I release on that road on Sunday - ah destroying everything !!! She asked Vernon what he mean by that - Dougla said he coming to blow away your truck and anything that moves !! And we all laughed at her reaction -
“Steuuupppes boy you know who doing my truck? you eh ready “
Just bring 2 jacks or xlrs - lol
So said so done !
