Hello VEX community!

We wanted to take a moment to hear where everyone’s thoughts are right now. The big question being asked: VEX or RECF?

After a week of conversations and careful thought, we’re currently leaning toward VEX for the upcoming season—specifically VEX in partnership with the nonprofit Global Robotics and Science Foundation. Our thinking is to allow RECF some time to continue developing and working through the program, while VEX remains the established foundation as it stands today.

One of the biggest factors for us is the importance of keeping our local communities aligned within the same program. When we’re unified, it creates stronger opportunities for competitions, events, and growth to naturally build off one another—and that’s something we value deeply.

Have we made a final decision? Not 100%—we’re still listening, learning, and staying open.

We truly value the strength of this community here in Central Florida and beyond, and we’d love to hear from you. Which direction are you leaning, and why?

Over the past several days, many announcements and discussions have surfaced regarding the separation between VEX and the REC Foundation. Like many of you, we understand the uncertainty, questions, and frustrations surrounding these developments.

Hello VEX / RECF Community,

By now, I’m sure most of you have heard the news about VEX and RECF parting ways. Like many of you, we are shocked and still processing what all of this means for the future. However, one thing we know for certain is this: STEM does not stop because one, two, or even three organizations fall apart.

It is truly a privilege to be part of this sector, and our FITS team plans to stay on top of all updates and continue keeping everyone informed regarding Fun In The Sun, our Signature Event.

At the moment, after conversations with our RECF contacts, the event is still expected to take place in January 2027. The bigger question right now is what that event will ultimately look like. Will it be RECF? Will it be VEX? There are still many unknowns, and like everyone else, we are waiting for more clarity as the dust settles.

What we do know is this: we are contracted with the venue and have agreements in place that cannot be broken without significant financial penalties. Because of that, we will absolutely be hosting something STEM and robotics related, regardless of how the organizational landscape evolves.

Most importantly, thank you all for your continued commitment to your students. Please do not let uncertainty discourage the educational mission behind what we do. Our students still need mentors, opportunities, innovation, and inspiration now more than ever.

Every challenge faced, every code written, every match played… it all adds up to something greater than a trophy. It builds leaders. It builds thinkers. It builds the next generation.

What an incredible event this has been so far. Today, our middle school teams take the stage, and after wrapping up skills rounds with some seriously high scores, it’s shaping up to be a highly competitive day.

We are LIVE here in Homestead at Somerset Oaks Leadership and Innovation — home of the legendary Dragon Bots! 🐉🤖

They’re hosting their FIRST home competition, and we are beyond excited to be part of it!
