🀰 What happens if you go more than 3 hours without eating during pregnancy?

During pregnancy, your body is constantly working to nourish and support your growing baby. Going too long without eating can cause blood sugar levels to drop, causing intense hunger, fatigue, dizziness, nausea, and irritability. For some moms-to-be, it can also increase the risk of dehydration or make it harder to maintain energy levels throughout the day.

🍎 Eating small, healthy, balanced meals or snacks at regular intervals can help maintain blood sugar levels and provide a constant supply of nutrients for both mom and baby. Every pregnancy is different: always follow your doctor's or midwife's advice for your specific needs.

πŸ’¬ Save this post, share it with a mom-to-be, and tell us in the comments: how often do you snack during pregnancy? ❀️

πŸ‘Άβœ¨ How does your baby's face form?

In the first weeks of pregnancy, the embryo's face is very different from the one he or she will have at birth. Between the 4th and 8th week, the eyes, nose, lips, and ears begin to develop. These structures form separately and, as the days pass, gradually merge to create a harmonious face.

Around the 10th week, the features become increasingly recognizable: the eyelids form and protect the eyes, the nose takes on its shape, the lips become defined, and the ears move into the correct position. In the following months, the face continues to mature, eyebrows and eyelashes appear, and the baby even begins to make facial expressions, such as yawning, swallowing, smiling, and frowning.

Every detail of his or her face is created thanks to an incredible sequence of perfectly coordinated biological events. A true masterpiece of nature. 🀍

🀰 Sleeping on the left side is often the recommended position during pregnancy, especially from the second and third trimesters. But do you know why?

As the baby grows, the uterus increases in size and can put pressure on the large blood vessels in the abdomen, particularly the inferior vena cava, which carries blood back to the heart.

❀️ Sleeping on the left side helps reduce this compression, promoting better blood circulation to the heart, placenta and baby. This means a more efficient supply of oxygen and nutrients to the fetus.

Furthermore, this position can contribute to:

🩸 Improve blood circulation.
πŸ’§ Reduce swelling of legs, ankles and feet.
🫁 Ease breathing in some women.
🀍 Decrease the pressure exerted on the liver and other abdominal organs.

✨ But there is one important thing to know: if during the night you wake up on your back or right side, you don't have to be scared. It's normal to change positions while sleeping, and your body spontaneously tends to make you move if a position becomes uncomfortable.

The main scientific societies underline that the most important thing is to fall asleep preferably on your side, especially in the last weeks of pregnancy, without experiencing every movement during sleep with anxiety.

πŸ’¬ Were you able to sleep on your left side during pregnancy or did you often change position?

Is sleeping on your back harmful during pregnancy? πŸ₯ΊπŸ₯Ί

The correct sleeping position during pregnancy is one of the topics that most intrigues expectant mothers. πŸ€—πŸ‘‡πŸ»

πŸ“Œ In the first 20 weeks, sleeping on your back generally doesn't cause any problems.

πŸ“Œ After the 20th week, the growing uterus can put pressure on the large blood vessels in the abdomen; for this reason, it's advisable to sleep on your side whenever possible.

πŸ’€ If you involuntarily roll onto your back during the night, don't worry. This is quite common. When you wake up, simply return to sleeping on your side.

πŸ’™ Sleeping on your left side is considered the most ideal position. However, sleeping on your right side is also a safe and acceptable choice.

Remember: the important thing isn't to always stay in the same position, but to try to sleep comfortably and prefer your side whenever possible.

πŸ‘Ά Can certain mistakes cause the umbilical cord to wrap around your baby's neck?

The short answer is no.

Many people believe that raising your arms, exercising, sleeping in a certain position, or other everyday activities can cause the umbilical cord to wrap around your baby's neck. In reality, there is no scientific evidence to support these claims.

A nuchal cord (when the cord loops around the baby's neck) is actually very common and usually happens because babies naturally move and tumble inside the womb. Most babies with a nuchal cord are born completely healthy, and healthcare providers know how to manage it during delivery if needed.

Instead of worrying about old myths, focus on attending your prenatal appointments, monitoring your baby's movements later in pregnancy, and following your healthcare provider's advice.

Knowledge replaces fear. πŸ’™
