There's something so special about a theme that truly belongs to your child, and Ava's New York Bat Mitzvah was exactly that. Carolyn Creations took the city she loves and turned it into a room full of warmth and wonder, with every detail feeling like it was chosen just for her. Before the doors opened, I spent a few quiet minutes photographing the space, and I always encourage families to plan for that moment, because once the celebration begins, the decor becomes the backdrop to hugs, laughter, and dancing. That stillness is when you can really see the love and care poured into every piece. What moved me most was watching Ava walk in and see her dream come to life, surrounded by the people who mean the most to her. When a celebration reflects who your child is, it becomes more than a party. It becomes a memory she will carry with her forever.

I call them the missed years.

Somewhere around fifteen or sixteen your kid is still living right down the hall, but you start missing them while they are still in the house, because the door is closed and the headphones are in and their whole world has quietly moved somewhere you were not invited.

Then senior year shows up and you are looking at a person who orders their own coffee and already knows what they want to study, and you cannot point to the exact day the little kid version of them slipped out the back.

That is why senior portraits mean so much to me.

You are catching them at the last second they are still yours and the first second they are entirely their own, and somehow both of those people are standing right there in front of you.

Years from now nobody will remember the outfit or the weather that afternoon, but you will remember exactly who they were becoming that year, and how it felt to watch it happen.

Today is Lola's Bat Mitzvah, and I could not be more excited to celebrate it with her and her family.

When Olga (mom) found me online and reached out, I could feel from our very first conversation how much this day meant to all of them.

Then I met Lola for her pre session, this sweet, elegant young lady with so much poise for her age, and I understood immediately why her family is so proud of her.
Tonight they celebrate her in Havana style, and I cannot wait to see every detail come to life.

Thank you, Olga, for trusting me with this milestone. It means the world to me when a family invites me into a day like this one.
