One year ago, Hurricane Helene turned our mountain town upside down. Cassandra and Matthew were set to marry the very next Monday, but instead postponed to this past May to finally celebrate.

And when the skies opened that day, it felt like rain was always meant to be part of their story 🫶🌦️…from a hurricane that shifted their plans, to a spring shower that gently brought everyone inside.

Through it all, their love, kindness, and joy shined brighter than the storm. Here’s to Cassandra + Matthew’s resilience, their joy, and a lifetime of luck (and maybe a few rainbows, too) ahead. 🌧️🌈💛

10 years since we bought my grandfather’s barn and boy has she come a long way 🤩

We bought the barn that my grandfather built from my Uncle John and Aunt Olga exactly ten years ago and it was a day of excitement and scrambling. We drove down from DC where we were living, desperately calling insurance companies because we didn’t realize you needed to have insurance before purchasing property (oops 🙆🏻‍♀️). We finally found a carrier that would cover ‘an empty barn- but one that we want to get married in- and maybe rent out to others?’ We got to exchange the keys with my aunt and uncle, sign the paperwork together, and share a glass of bubbly to celebrate. So much anticipation, optimism, and hope on that day 🎉.

Less than four months later, we named her Overlook, renovated her, and had one of the best days of our lives getting married inside that barn. 💍

We plan to celebrate our 10 year anniversary this August at Overlook and I like to think that - because I have a venue that’s already renovated and ready to go- I’m ahead of the curve for planning it (despite having no actual plans yet 🫣😅).

🍁 We opened up our October 2026 dates just minutes ago… and already three are under contract. 😱 On top of that, our last Friday and second-to-last Sunday of October 2025 were claimed this past week. If October has your heart, don’t wait to reach out!

But can we let you in on a little secret? 🍂 Mid- to late-September at Overlook is also pure magic. Golden light, crisp mountain air, and leaves that are already putting on a show.

We’re featuring a September 22nd wedding here—how about those golden fall colors?! ✨ Best part? Saturday, September 27th, 2025 is still available. 👀
