When it comes to weddings I believe brides👰 and their friends and family can almost do it all. But as a bride, you cannot fully enjoy your big day if you are concerned with when your caterer is supposed to arrive, or who is going to set up your sweetheart table exactly how you pinned it on Pinterest. I know what you are thinking though, you're thinking that you can totally ask your mom to help out

, or that your maid of honor was the queen👑 at planning your bachelorette party so she can obviously handle a few tables. And I think you're right! Your closest friends and family would be more than happy to help on your wedding day. But here lies the problem, if your mom, maid of honor, aunt, and/or bridal party are all busy setting up your wedding; then who will you be with enjoying once-in-a-lifetime moments that you have been dreaming of? I want to see you relaxing on your wedding day! Drinking mimosas with your girls because you and your wedding coordinator have walked through every hour of your wedding day timeline. I want to see you and your husband dancing the night away with your friends and family because none of them have the extra stress of making your day "perfect" weighing on their shoulders. I want to see you enjoying yourself because you know your wedding coordinator is your biggest advocate and will make everything go smoothly even when things aren't going quite as planned. So in a nutshell🥜 I want you to utilize a wedding coordinator. Maybe it's me, maybe it's not. If you won't do it for yourself, then do it for your loved ones (and your venue/vendors 😅). 📸 Here’s a checklist to ensure you have everything ready for your photographer for perfect and sentimental flat lay photos:

• Rings & Ring Box
• Shoes
• Accessories, Jewelry, Watch
• Cuff Links
• Lipstick
• Sentimental items
• Flask or beverage of choice
• Veil
• Cigar & Lighter
• Tie or Pocket Square
• Boutonnière
• Fruit- dried or fresh
• Perfume or Cologne
• Tokens that help you tell the story of your location (think seashells or pearls for a beach wedding or a deck of cards in Vegas)
• Ribbon or fabric swatch to bring in your colors
• Invitation suite
• Wax seals & stamp
• Vintage stamps
• Family heirlooms
• Ornate trays
• Guest favor
• Vow books
• A few extra flowers from your florist
• Something borrowed/blue/old/new

Make a note to pack a separate box or bag with flat lay items that are relevant to your day that your photographer can play around with. Some photographers pack their own flat lay kits so check in with them to see if that’s an option and what it includes.

Let’s address an internal bride struggle: Does your bridal party need to be an even number, or should it match your significant other’s? 🤔

Here’s the scoop: While symmetry is visually appealing, there are no hard rules! Whether you opt for balance or prioritize including your nearest and dearest, the choice is yours. If asymmetry makes your skin crawl then make sure you have even numbers on both sides so you and your significant other are always framed in the middle! If you have never once thought about it then you do you boo😘💖

Ps: I had an odd number of bridesmaids AND more than my partner AND we still love our photos asymmetry and all☺️

True Story - I just love my clients! Being a Wedding Coordinator is such a dream job. Leaving a wedding I always feel so blessed by the people I was able to meet. My couples are always the sweetest and saying goodbye is so bitter-sweet. Their families and friends are always so supportive and ready to lend a helping hand to make their day perfect. The vendors are true joys to work with and always make my couples feel like kings and queens. It’s a crazy and awesome concept to see how people truly come together to support the ones they love. Wedding are my favorite example of just that! All the love to my couples past present and future 😘

Floral installations are always a good idea✨

When working on your wedding design think of investing in big statement pieces in high-traffic areas. This beautiful hanging install was the featured piece in the middle of the reception hall over the head table. Guests were able to enjoy it all night and the Edisto lights created a beautiful ambiance that was so memorable!

Let’s talk linens! I love a fun textured or patterned linen. It can add so much to your space and easily elevate your event. The only down side is they tend to come with a higher price tag. If you want to make a statement while sticking to your budget try a bold pattern linen on accent tables like standing cocktails or bistro tables, your sweetheart table, cake table, or gift or guest book table.

Little mistakes or hiccups throughout the wedding day kind of just come with the territory…

I’ve seen a case of white wine accidentally stored in a freezer instead of a fridge🍾, wedding rings accidentally get dropped by the ring bearer 🙃, or Unity Ceremony candles refusing to light and stay lit while on a windy mountain side.

Letting go of the idea and stress of “perfection” on your wedding day is something that is a really difficult concept. Currently as a bride I can’t say I am succeeding in that category but I’m working toward it!

One thing to always remember are the awesome friends and family you have in your corner ready to support you before, during, and after your wedding day! People are always more willing to lend a hand than you might think. A little ask goes a long way. Surround yourself with people who will help you laugh through it and create memories.

PS: Always bring hurricane votives or chimneys if utilizing candles at outdoor ceremonies😊

Wedding lingo you need to know! Catering addition🥗🍝🎂🍽️🥂

Impress your caterer with your advance catering vocab 💁🏻‍♀️

Canapé: a small, bite-size snack that is usually served on a piece of bread or cracker topped with various savory or sweet ingredients.

Crudité: a platter of fresh veggies and dip served as an appetizer.

A la Carte: each menu item, it’s priced individually as opposed to an entire menu for one fixed price.

Corkage: a fee charged per bottle for opening and serving wine brought in by the client.

Dueling Menus: this is another term for split entrées instead of having an 8oz steak you can have a 4oz steak and a 4oz piece of fish. Think surf and turf.

Let's hear it for the boys!🎶

Timeline Tip: Whenever possible I always try and have my groom and groomsmen arrive at the venue as late as possible. Ladies are used to getting ready for hours, chatting, and having girl time. Guys on the other hand...need a little more freedom.

Consider creating their own separate timeline with an activity planned. Let them have a later morning and sleep in, send them out to breakfast or lunch, or organize a corn hole tournament at your Airbnb. Mini activities are great - anything to discourage boredom-induced drinking. Not like that is ever a concern I have with groomsmen or anything...🙃

Pick a reasonable time for arrival at the venue. Be sure to let them know if you expect them to be dressed and ready or if they need to bring their suit and belongings to finish up in the groom's suite. I like to keep my guys moving as soon as they arrive! Only down time is about 30-45 mins prior to the ceremony to rest and relax.
