There’s something lovely about the time after the ceremony, when you can relax into the celebration and catch up with the people who’ve come to share it with you.

Spring returns gradually at Songbird.

First there are buds on the branches, then blossom, new growth and flowers appearing around the pond. With every warmer day, the gardens become fuller and greener.

Songbird takes on a different feeling after dark.

The gardens are softly lit, the clear-roof marquee glows against the trees, and dinner gives way to music, first dances and a very full dance floor underneath hundreds of warm lights.

The garden setting remains part of the celebration, long after the sun has gone down.

The willow is one of our favourite places for a ceremony at Songbird.

Guests gather close on the lawn, with the gardens around them and the branches forming a natural backdrop. Later, when the ceremony is over, couples often wander back beneath the tree for photographs.

It feels open and spacious, yet still wonderfully private.

Auckland weather can bring a few surprises, but showers at Songbird often pass quickly. Sometimes it’s simply a matter of waiting a few minutes before continuing with the ceremony outside.

If the rain settles in, the clear-roof marquee offers a light, sheltered ceremony space surrounded by the gardens.

And once the rain passes, the softened light, freshly washed greenery and sometimes even a rainbow, can make for beautiful photographs.

Tucked around the property are all sorts of little places to discover: a swing beneath the trees, an old dinghy beside the pond, and a stream running through the garden.
