It was a packed Saturday night at FMG Stadium Waikato with 24,162 fans in attendance for All Blacks v France.
While the temperature dropped, the energy was electric.

MFE was proud to deliver corporate catering for just over 1,000 guests across the stadium, with support from over 180 team members across Events, Kitchen, FOH and Logistics, including help from our wider Montana whānau across the motu.👏

A seamless evening of hospitality, topped off with a 29–19 All Blacks victory in front of a roaring home crowd. A proud moment for the team, and a standout night all round.

Good kōrero, great company and kai to match. We catered lunch and afternoon tea for the Waikato Wāhine Collective Symposium last week at GLOBOX Arena & Events Centre, Claudelands, captured by the talented Ruth Gilmour photographer.

Last week was one for the books. Across the upper North Island, the MFE team delivered seamless service and smart logistics under pressure.

From 77 Fieldays® functions to back-to-back trade events in Waikato, a six-course Matariki gala in Rotorua, and connecting with industry at MEETINGS 2025 in Tāmaki Makaurau, the calendar was full, but the team delivered at every turn.

We poured cocktails at the semi-final, served 600 at a major trade event, and hosted a 550-person gala for the Rural Support Trust with . We capped it off with an exceptional showing at Tohunga Tūmau, followed by a beautifully hosted famil at the Sir Howard Morrison Centre with .

To our incredible team, thank you. It was a massive week, but your mahi behind the scenes makes moments like these possible 👏

Our Story

The Montana name derives from earlier times with Montana Restaurant established in Victoria St Hamilton in 1965.

The culture of innovation and expansion were evident when in 1988 ‘out catering’ was added to the menu. The introduction of professional rugby in 1996 lead to a sea change with Montana entrusted with the original corporate hospitality at Hamilton’s Rugby Park, for the inaugural Chiefs UBix Super 12 season. The construction of what is now FMG Stadium Waikato during 2001, opening in 2002, was the catalyst for the new company’s birth.

Montana Catering 2001 Ltd, trading as Montana Catering, was based at Waikato Stadium from its opening and continues to be the resident caterer. In 2011, with the successful tendering for the catering rights to the refurbished Claudelands Events Centre, head office and a new catering operation was launched at this new venue.

In 2018 we evolved our name to Montana Food and Events to emphasise our continued focus on our Food being the defining difference, plus highlighting our expertise at Event Management. In an instant age, with a multitude of demands the pre, during and post event management can be one of the defining factors of success. Whether your event is a one-off function, complex conference with 2,000 delegates or a unique family gathering, our Event Management will guarantee its success.
