Hello everyone,

Today, I received the Walk 100 Challenge medal in the post! So far, my Walk 100 Challenge has raised just over £500, which is absolutely fantastic.

I had set myself a goal of raising £1,000, and with the charity Parkinson’s quiz that the White Hart is helping me host tomorrow night, I am confident that we will achieve this target. Your support has been incredible, and I am truly grateful for everyone's contributions and encouragement.

Yesterday was Father’s Day, and it was understandably a very emotional day for all of us. It felt strange waking up and realising that I couldn't call Dad to wish him a happy Father’s Day. Despite the sadness, we all came together as a family, and my wonderful sister-in-law cooked a lovely meal for us. We sat down together and shared a meal, finding comfort in each other's company.

Thank you all for being part of this journey with me, and for helping to make a difference. if you haven't yet and would still like to donate, please follow the link below

I’m sure in the month of May I walked well over 100 miles, but remembering to put my watch on or, in my case, losing it for 10 days meant a break in logging the walking activity. The Parkinson's Walk 100 Miles Challenge has now finished, and I did officially log my 100 miles, a lot of which was instead of driving to work. I opted to walk, or when going to the shops, I opted to walk. In fact, every time I could, I put on my Parkinson's Walk 100 Miles Challenge T-shirt and went for a walk in Dad's memory. I am so grateful to everyone who has donated so far. Your support means the world to me and has helped me feel like I'm able to do something during this challenging time. Thanks to your generosity, we are one step closer to finding a cure and helping other families who are faced with dealing with this cruel disease. I want to continue fundraising and supporting this charity, and I plan to participate in this challenge every year to honor my dad and support this cause. Together, we can make a difference.

There's still time to donate if you wish. Please find the link below. Thank you once again to everyone who has supported me by donating, liking, or sharing my journey

An amazing £415 raised so far! Thank you to everyone who has liked, shared, donated, and supported Parkinson's UK

As we approach the end of May and the Walk 100 Challenge, I would like to continue fundraising for Parkinson's.

The White Hart in New haw has kindly offered to help me organize a charity quiz night in June.

Stay tuned for more details, including information about the famous White Hart quiz and a raffle.

You are never truly gone if you are never forgotten. We remember my dad Wardley fondly every day and cherish the memories we've shared.

Your support means the world to me and my family and helps us keep his kind and generous spirit alive.

https://events.parkinsons.org.uk/fundraisers/laurenrowbottom Hi everyone,

We’re already over halfway through May, and I had a plan to walk into work this week, which would have been 6 miles each day. Unfortunately, that plan was scuppered by a change of location.

It reminds me of something my dad once said: “Life is like a road trip without a map. There will be many twists and turns and lots of choices to make along the way to decide which direction you go. Some will be right, some will be wrong.” It’s been 16 years since he said that to me, but it’s as relevant as ever now.

The past few weeks have definitely felt like that road trip - a bit like I’m lost and not quite sure what I’m meant to be doing, but knowing the direction I need to go in.

So, I’m going to carry on with my fundraising page and try to reach my goal of £1000 by the end of May. By the end of this weekend, I expect I’ll probably add another 20 miles to my account. Right now, I’m sitting here with some toast and my cup of coffee, chatting with my beautiful “dad”Rose plant. It’s been a helpful healing presence, and some good company to chat with.

Thank you for all your support and encouragement. Let’s keep pushing towards that goal!

Michael’s granddaughter Amy was invited to dance on a stage at Disneyland Paris So for the last three days we have been in Paris, recording our steps to include towards our challenge!!! Blimey what a lot of steps we did!!!! My blisters have blisters It was a bittersweet experience because initially we had hoped that Mum and Dad were both joining us as a family in Paris to watch Amys dance show . So there was a lot of emotional moments during these last three days as we continued and pushed forward to enjoy one of the most exciting experiences and opportunity that we were given So here’s the good news from Sunday, the 13th of April to Tuesday, the 15th of April. We completed just over 60,000 steps towards this challenge which is equivalent to approximately 25 miles. Trying to keep my emotions on a level so Amy could focus on her performance was difficult. One ride in particular got me very emotional not for being fast or scary - but the Star Wars immersive experience. Years ago started the tradition of me and dad going to the cinema together to watch films just the two of us. We started off with the new Star Wars films. I had never been a Star Wars fan so the novelty and excitement of it for me wasn’t huge but I enjoyed going with Dad to the cinema to watch the new ones as they came out so when we were walking through the immersive experience, all I could think of was how much he would have enjoyed this experience. The visual effects and experience of it was truly breathtaking. Even for someone who wasn’t a super fan, after we finished the Star Wars franchise and no new films were being brought out we moved onto the Jurassic Park remakes. Followed by the Marvel franchise which is my personal favourite. His grandson Max will now be my cinema buddy for the upcoming Marvel and Jurassic Park movies which are out later this year. Thank you once again to everyone who has already donated towards Parkinson’s it means more to me and my father then you will ever know all the best little stuff ###
