As you’ve probably noticed I’ve changed my Instagram name to .vectra
Some of you already know that I’ve been struggling with my musical identity for quite a while. I love producing and playing classic techno, raw 90s/2000s sounds and a lot of UK acid for labels such as . At the same time I also love playing faster styles.
Because of that I started focusing more on DJing and playing faster styles, especially since there were so many events in my hometown of Cologne centered around that sound. But honestly I wasn’t really happy.
Friends like .303, .unltd, .kirk.churchill and .m4a reminded me to focus on what I truly feel and love. Some of them also chose to take a step back and concentrate on the music that genuinely inspires them.
DICA in particular has always been a huge inspiration to me. He’s been in the scene for a long time and I’ve always told people that one day he’d become a big big name. Now it finally feels like he’s on that path. It took time because he stayed true to his vision, never gave up and never sold his soul by letting labels push him in a different direction. Instead he found his own place in today’s social media world by presenting himself exactly how he wanted to: going absolutely insane with his live performances.
Inspired by all of this I’ve decided to launch a new alias: Tony Vectra.
All of my old-school-inspired productions focused on acid, tribal, hardgroove, UK techno and similar sounds will now be released under Tony Vectra. This project will be my current focus. I’ll still keep DAESU for the occasional DJ gig and for having fun playing different styles, but my biggest goal now is to produce music.
I’m taking a step back from accepting a lot of DJ bookings to dedicate more time to creating the music I truly love, aiming for bigger/more special gigs and hopefully leave something meaningful behind.
