Margaux Gazur makes sublime music to sooth the soul. Ethereal textures and layered percussion give way to underlying hypnotic melodies that stay with you for days and somehow feel like they’ve been with you for centuries. We dropped by her studio for some tea and a quick chat about her creative process. Margaux Gazur opens the Nice One Weekender, playing live in the Saal on Friday night.

Ciel lives for the music. We went for a dig with her at her favourite vinyl spot which always gets a visit when she’s in town. She shared with us some thoughts on playing gigs in the mecca of house and techno. Catch Ciel playing a peak-time Sunday set in the Saal for the Nice One Weekender.

We hung out with the lovely Eline over an ice-cream (plus sprinkles, of course) at the Zenner Eisdiele, where she shared her thoughts on the importance of chill-out spaces and down-time in the rave. For the Nice One Weekender, Eline plays in the basement on Saturday night, offering your ears and souls some well-deserved TLC…

Mei Yuxin (aka Temple Rat) is a passionate sound artist, always in touch with her surroundings and the sonic environment she moves through. We caught up with her for a ferry ride across the Spree and got a beautiful insight into her daily journey to the studio, just over the water from Zenner, at the Funkhaus complex.

Temple Rat opens the Saal on Saturday night, setting the pace for the second part of the Nice One Weekender…

Analogue Foundation returns to Zenner Saal for the eighth concert in its intimate listening series.

This edition presents GAISTER, an encounter between soprano and experimental vocal artist Olivia Salvadori (Tutto Questo Sentire), drummer Akihide Monna (Bo Ningen) and songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Coby Sey. The name is an invented word combining the German Geist, meaning spirit, with geyser, a nod to Iceland, where the recording was born. The trio work across three mother tongues (Italian, Japanese and English), with voices braided over drums, percussion and synths. They perform live with light artist Charlie Hope, whose lighting adds another layer to the room.

Ahead is a live performance by Maya Shenfeld, a Berlin-based composer and musician whose practice moves between popular, electronic and experimental music. She has released two albums on Thrill Jockey, In Free Fall (2022) and Under the Sun (2024), and scored Cover-Up, directed by Laura Poitras, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival.

Opening the night is a DJ set by Józio Urbański, an improvising multi-instrumentalist and self-described radio-fetishist moving between Berlin and Warsaw, easing us into the evening.

As always, the Saal becomes an intimate listening space, where you’re invited to sit, stand, or lie down, and simply be with the sound and light.

Tickets are limited to keep things close and quiet.

Curated by Simone Merli (Soundwalk Collective).

mad miran rose to prominence through her pivotal residency at Amsterdam’s De School. Her high-energy sound is still reverberating around this year’s festival circuit with some of the best sets of the summer. Boldly rejecting rigid genres in favour of out-and-out vibes, expect a fluid blend of raw breakbeats, big basslines, IDM and acid, summoning a dancefloor full of emotion.
mad miran plays in the Saal on Saturday, October 17th.

Loidis is one of the many artistic identities of Brian Leeds aka Huerco S, the Kansas-born electronic musician whose work has profoundly shaped modern ambient and experimental music. Through Loidis, Leeds turns his focus toward the understated corners of dub techno, minimal, microhouse, and deep house, perfectly encapsulating the Nice One ethos.
Loidis plays in the Saal on Sunday, October 18th.

XDB’s sound encompasses raw Detroit techno, dub techno, and deep house, all expertly channelled in his latest releases. Known for an analogue-driven style and versatile, vinyl-leaning sets, his meticulous track selection and faultless mixing have cemented his reputation as a definitive ‘DJ’s DJ’.
XDB plays in the Saal on Sunday, October 18th (pre-3 p.m., admission with Saturday/Sunday or Full Access Weekend tickets only).

Stella Zekri is a vinyl DJ, vocalist, and curator who blends classic house, disco, boogie, and hip-hop into deeply soulful journeys. Ahead of Barker’s groundbreaking 180 Minutes event, Zenner will install the Discrete Ensemble (Viola-1) directly inside the Saal, opening the space to the public for an exclusive two-day interactive sound exhibition.

Visitors are invited to experience the mechanical sound sculptures up close before their integrated performance for Barker’s 180 Minutes. Here, inside the lofty GDR-era architecture of the Saal, the physical act of listening becomes a fully immersive, 3D experience.

Challenging performer and audience conventions, the eight mechanical string instruments are distributed as widely as possible throughout the Saal, giving rise to psychoacoustic effects and allowing the isolation of individual tones, encouraging interaction and discovery as the audience moves through the sonic body.

By decentralising the ensemble, the piece explores individual vs collective dynamics, the interaction between sound and space, and the automation of human activities. Operating as an open gallery, visitors are encouraged to stay as long as they like, lingering within the soundscape for a meditative and unhurried experience.

The Saal will be open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on both days prior to the 180 Minutes main event.

Tickets are priced 9.50€ and available via link in bio + RA now.
