NOVEMBER

Emberkind Movement & Community

“Lately I’ve been thinking about how November carries its own kind of gravity— the kind that draws you inward.”

— Sophie Barbarics

Some days we need stillness. Some days we need to move big. Sometimes we just need to be in a room together.

Here’s what we’re gathering around this month. →

Emberkind Movement & Community

Authentic Movement
Moving with an Embodied Mind

Authentic Movement begins with listening to the body.
With eyes closed, we turn our attention inward while remaining gently aware of the shared space. Lynn Dragone holds the role of witness, offering an attentive, non-judgmental presence.

Each session begins with Laban Movement explorations to loosen familiar habits and discover new ways of moving. We then make space for movement and stillness—listening rather than directing, with no mistakes to make.

A collaboration between Emberkind Movement & Community and Lynn Dragone.

November 14 · 12:30–2:30 pm

Body Awareness Series
Slowing Down with the Seasons

The first step to body awareness is being still enough to tune in.

Emberkind Movement & Community and Aligned with Val invite you to reconnect with your body and listen to your needs before reaching exhaustion or burnout.

Through sharing our experiences and practices like body scans, we’ll reflect on where we’ve been rushing, listen to our body’s cues, and explore ways to support ourselves in this season of change.

November 21 · 2:30–4 pm

White Shirt Stories
A collective performance work with installation

“What we carry may be unseen. What we have lived may leave us marked. We do not have to be the same to hold one another as we step forward.”

Sophie Barbarics is developing White Shirt Stories with 25 others.

Through movement, worn white shirts, and shared stories, the piece explores the unseen loads people carry and what makes us feel safe enough to be seen.

An invitation to pause before judging—to ask, to listen, and to meet difference with curiosity rather than certainty.

From mid-September, we continue our movement journey and we would love to have you there.

Things are starting soon:

Wild & Kind
All-level dance and movement series
Starting September 15 · 11 weeks

This is an open level class - Yes! I love and truly feel inspired by being so different. So these classes are for anyone who wants to move more, feel more, get out of their head, get into their body, shake off the dust, dance with other humans, and do it with a bunch of other people who maybe feel the same way in certain moments like you.

Starting something for the first time is scary and really brave.
Keeping to show up - even when life is messy - is incredibly respectful - to yourself, to your body and to the community.
