As many are aware, the City has announced its decision to demolish the curling club facility and not proceed with a rebuild.
This news is deeply disappointing for our members and for everyone who values the history and community built around the Nelson Curling Club.
Over the past six years that I have been President, the Board of Directors has consistently advocated for the preservation and future of curling in our community. We have engaged in discussions, explored partnership options, and worked to present viable paths forward. While the final decision rests with the City of Nelson, please know that the Board has remained committed throughout to fighting for the club’s future.
We understand that emotions are high. Curling has been an important part of this community for generations. We share that disappointment.
Our focus now will be on understanding next steps and determining what opportunities, if any, remain for curling in our city. We will communicate clearly with members as more information becomes available.
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered, supported, and stood behind the Nelson Curling Club. Your passion is what makes this community special.
Sincerely,
Kristina Little
