Great ideas, valuable conversations and plenty to bring back to the office.

This week, the DIRECTIONS team attended SITE ANZ Incentivise Live in Sydney. A day dedicated to exploring what’s next for incentive travel and how our industry can create even greater value.

Our biggest takeaway? Incentive travel is much more than a reward.

When thoughtfully designed, it can motivate people, strengthen workplace culture, build relationships and create memories that last far longer than a transactional reward.

The team also came away thinking about:

✈️ Designing incentives for different generations and what genuinely motivates them

🤖 How AI is changing the way clients find and assess potential partners

🌏 The evolving role of incentive travel within business strategy

🌙 New possibilities for Sydney as its 24-hour economy develops

🤝 The importance of strong relationships between clients, agencies and suppliers

A big thank you to the Australia & New Zealand team for creating such a relevant and thought-provoking event.

It was also wonderful to reconnect with so many industry colleagues, friends and partners. Now we’re looking forward to turning those conversations and ideas into action for our clients.

A big mahalo to Meet Hawaii for hosting a wonderful dinner especially for the DIRECTIONS team.

It was such a pleasure to spend time with our Hawaiian partners, reconnect, share updates, and continue building the relationships that help us create memorable programs for our clients.

A special thank you to Kris for organising such a great evening. Kris may be Thai, but he is absolutely “Mr Hawaii” here in Australia. Naturally, he hosted us at a Thai restaurant, but made sure there was at least one very important Hawaiian-adjacent touch on the table: pineapple fried rice.

Thank you again to Kris and the Meet Hawaii team for your generous hospitality. We loved the chance to catch up and talk all things Hawaii.

Qantas has opened a temporary international Business Class lounge at Sydney Airport's T1. Located near Gate 31 in a former crew room, it serves as a stopgap while the main lounge undergoes a major upgrade through 2027.

This setup has notable constraints: it's smaller with limited seating, lacks showers and a full buffet, and feels more functional than luxurious. Frequent flyers can bring eligible guests, but due to space constraints, Qantas lounge passes aren’t being accepted. To reduce the crush during peak periods, Qantas is sending some travellers to the Plaza Premium and Air New Zealand lounges.

For high-end incentive groups, these shortcomings could impact the pre-flight experience DIRECTIONS aim to elevate for clients. Delegates who are Platinum QF Members will still have access to the first class lounge as usual.

Exciting upgrades ahead in 2027
The new permanent lounge will transform this with double the seating, an open-air terrace for Sydney skyline views, expanded dining options, refreshed bars and enhanced workspaces - perfect for our delegates on study tours or international conferences. These enhancements align seamlessly with our focus on duty of care and standout experiences in APAC and global programs.

UK Travel Changes from 25 Feb 2026 - important for Aussies 🇬🇧✈️

If you’re travelling to the UK after 25 Feb 2026, there are new rules you need to know.

✅ Australians will need to apply for a UK ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation)
💳 Cost: $32

⚠️ BUT if you’re an Australian + UK or Australian + Irish dual citizen, you cannot get an ETA.

You must:

* Travel on your valid UK or Irish passport
* Or you may not be allowed to board your flight in Australia

If your UK passport is expired:
1: Renew it before travel
2: Apply for a Certificate of Entitlement (COE) (approx. $1,000)
3: Or renounce UK citizenship

With 2 million+ Australians holding dual citizenship, this will definitely affect some travelers - especially those who haven’t used their UK passport in years.

After many years of partnership, trust, and pushing boundaries with a client — DIRECTIONS delivered a recent Study Tour that was on another level!

We swapped the usual five-star hotel for a custom-built safari camp in the heart of the Mongena Savannah. Think 75 luxury tents, pools, fire pits, stargazing, and three days of unforgettable wildlife adventures.

Add in a meaningful CSR project in Zambia, bucket-list experiences, and networking at its finest — this was more than a program, it was an immersive journey.

Authentic. Bold. Unrepeatable. That’s how we keep raising the bar year after year!
