Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán warned that Europe may be losing the Christian identity that once unified and sustained the continent. Speaking at a conference on Christian persecution, he said Hungary’s support for persecuted Christians reflects values Europe itself now struggles to defend.
Orbán emphasized that Christianity is embedded in Hungary’s constitution and history, calling it essential to the nation’s survival for more than a thousand years. He argued that persecution of Christians is not only a humanitarian concern but an attack on an entire civilization.
He concluded that Christians have the right to defend their culture and faith, warning that Europe’s reluctance to openly confront these issues risks irreversible decline unless it returns to its spiritual foundations.
