Reminiscing on this quiet, romantic, giddy courthouse turned beach elopement in Carlsbad, Ca.

You know the ones.. only family surrounding you under the courthouse gazebo to hear you both officially say “I do”.

Yanett + Giovanni found each other at the perfect time in each other’s lives and couldn’t wait to get their lives started together. I met Yanett two years ago at the gym I go to and we clicked pretty instantly.

I’m honored she has asked me to shoot the two of them twice now and had a blast joining them and meeting their loved ones on this day.

28 years I’ve know this woman…
She’s always been a “somethin simple” kinda gal

Now she’s got the house on the hill and the horses in the yard.. just like I knew she would. I’ve seen you through so many stages of life and this one is by far my favorite. I love watching you be a mama and wife more than I can even explain.

You’re still the spunky Kay I’ve always known though and that’s something I admire about you so much!

I have to give a huge shoutout to you guys for a sec…

My clients. The people who have trusted me this year, so far.

This has been one of my busiest seasons yet and I cannot thank you guys enough for trusting me to create images that aren’t just pretty but convey connection, realness and the beauty of it all.. let’s be real I photograph some of the most beautiful people. And I’m not biased.

From weddings, to senior photos, to courthouse elopements… You guys have kept my heart so full.

Alongside my new part-time job as a respite worker, I haven’t much downtime to even create a post but I found a few spare moments so here I am!

I can’t wait to see who else I get to work with this year!! Thank you guys, SO MUCH.

…and this is just ONE set from tonight at the beach with one of my favorite, most loyal families 😫✨

Three years with them… and it still doesn’t feel like enough.

From maternity… to being in the room for the birth of their last baby… to now doing it all over again for baby #4 🤍
Moments like this make me pause because this job? It’s so much deeper than photos.

People don’t just randomly choose a photographer.
They trust you.
They invite you into their biggest, most intimate, once-in-a-lifetime moments… again and again.

And that will never not humble me.

Watching this family grow has been the sweetest thing — from a house full of boys… to finally getting their baby girl… and now adding another little love to the mix 🥹

The kids are counting down the days.
Mom + dad are just along for the ride at this point (and honestly… thriving in the chaos 😂)

Let’s be real…

I cry at almost every wedding… but not as much as I cried at THIS wedding.

Shelby is the most deserving, caring, honest person (iykyk). She loves with her whole heart, and if you’re loved by her, you’re the lucky one. She finally found the person who loves her the way she deserves… and then some. Watching Nate with Shelby… he’s so gentle and kind to her and lets her be completely herself. The way they make each other laugh is kind of like something out of a sitcom.

And that’s the thing about their love—it’s not just beautiful, it’s safe. It’s the kind of love that feels like home. The kind where you don’t have to perform or shrink or question if you’re “too much”… because to them, you’re exactly right.

There were so many moments throughout the day where I had to pause behind my camera and just take it in. The quiet glances, the way their hands always found each other, the uncontrollable laughter in between the big, emotional moments. It all felt so real. So grounded. So them.

This is why I do what I do. Not just for the pretty details (although yes, those were stunning), but for this. For the stories that you can feel. For the kind of love that reminds you what it’s all about in the first place.

Shelby & Nate, your love is something really special. I’ll never stop being honored that I got to witness it this closely 🤍

I met her my freshman year of high school..

She was one year in from another school in town. She was friends with the girls that hated me😂. Somehow, for some reason, she chose to look past their reasoning for why. We became friends anyways.

One summer later, I found myself in her kitchen at midnight eating puffins cereal, making ridiculous videos that she still has somewhere and making countless questionable decisions.

Here we are 15 years later and she’s given me the honor of photographing her wedding.

She found the one her heart calls home🤍

Wanna know one of my most favorite things ever?

When I get to photograph family members of people I’ve been photographing for years. When something special happens, you need photos and and someone I know says, “I know just the girl!”.

Van is the nephew of my dearest .womenswellness and recently made the decision to propose to his lovely girlfriend. We got to planning in hope to keep it as good as a secret as we could. He took her to dinner before photos and they made their way towards the cliffs of Carlsbad beach. Van had this spot picked out already, my job was to keep it clear of other people and also not make myself known😂

We pulled it off and SHE SAID YES!!
We all gathered with their closest family and friends after at their favorite spot,
A time was had.

This was going to be a sophisticated post but then I picked the song before I wrote this and I just wanted to say how fitting it is for .karma.community… iykyk😆

Anyways, these photos were taken in chronological order and the 3rd slide is when I started shouting “THAT’S A BAAAADD B*TCH RIGHT THERE!!!”
