Our Story

Nestled among rolling hills of vineyards and surrounded by the Shipley Preserve, the Festival grounds offer a weekend in the park with concerts on the Main and Wine Garden Stages, wine tasting, local craft breweries including meaderies, local distillery tastings, hot air balloons and fine food. The Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival was started by the Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce and handful of volunteers in 1983.

The first Festival featured the valley’s only wineries - six. Today there are more than 48 wineries in the Temecula Valley and more surrounding the area including the DeLuz/Fallbrook region west of Old Town Temecula, and San Diego County wineries southeast of the Temecula Valley. The annual Festival features between 16 to 20 wineries pouring samples or you can find your favorite and purchase full glasses.

The EARLY bird catches the Hot Air Balloon launch at dawn. That means flights launch between 6 and 6:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Morning tethered rides are available until approx 8:30 a.m. Reserve balloon rides and flights in advance.

BALLOONS will ONLY FLY in the EARLY MORNING, 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., weather permitting. They will be gone by 9:30 a.m. If morning to you is 10 a.m., you will miss the balloons as hot air balloons require COOL mornings and light breezes to fly and tether. Join us for our EYE OPENER Sunrise Balloon Brunch - with reserved tethered hot air balloon ride, mimosas and a scrumptious belly-filling brunch.
