Living here in the Telluride area has taught me that the mountains are never the same twice.

Some mornings feel soft and quiet.
Some feel wild and untamed.
And somehow, every couple brings a completely different story into them.

That’s what I love most about photographing elopements here.

It’s not just about finding a beautiful place.
It’s about knowing the hidden roads, the late season snowfields, the places where the light slips perfectly through the peaks at sunset.

It’s about inviting couples into a world that already feels magical, and helping them become part of it for a day.

Not rushed.
Not overly posed.
Just the two of you, deeply in love, surrounded by mountains that make everything else feel small.

Last week, I surprised Rhonda with a picnic in the mountains!!
If you have ever emailed us, booked an all-inclusive package, had questions about flower or hair and make up, You were talking to Rhonda!
She is the glue behind Elope Telluride.
Every photographer wishes they had a “Rhonda” to do all the things that photographers don’t like doing!
She’s the reason I have the energy to do 30-40 elopements a year and I wish you could see how excited she is every time a new couple inquires with us!
She’s an amazing wife and mother… she’s always positive and spending time with her girl friends (who are pretty amazing themselves) and I couldn’t be more proud of the business and life we have built together here on the western slope of Colorado!

Saturday was one of those days you hope for as an elopement photographer! I had a couple who was up for anything, the weather was perfect, there was no sign of anyone else around for miles. It was just two people in love, having the time of their life with the most amazing view you can imagine!
The hardest part is always saying good bye to such an amazing day.

This was not supposed to be the ceremony site I wanted to take my couple to, but as we went up the mountain we ran into a snow drift we couldn’t get by. I had to go down the mountain backwards, until I could turn around. On the way down backwards, I saw this spot out of the corner of my eye and asked my couple if they wanted to get married there and they loved it! I drove back up, parked, we hiked to the spot and they got married! I then had to go backwards again to go down the mountain 😅.
1. You never know what’s going to happen in the mountains and you need to be 100% ready for every situation and I always am.
2. I love couples that don’t mind changing everything up at the last second! It makes for an epic adventure!

The rest of the day went as planned and we finished with a milkyway shot at the end. That shot took 2 hours to wait for and the actual pic took about 10 minutes, but it’s 100% all one shot with a flash off to the side and a long exposure.
I charge a little extra for it, but if you’re interested in a milkyway shot, let me know.
