What your wedding planner wishes every couple knew.

Planning comes in waves. Give yourself grace when the decision fatigue hits.

Not every detail matters equally. Your planner is there to help you keep perspective.

Slow down. In planning, on the wedding day, and especially with each other.

Your wedding is for YOU two first, then your community. You set the tone.

Invest in experiences, not just stuff. The internet will always try to sell you more.

Take time off before the wedding. Give yourself room to breathe when the last-minute details inevitably pop up.

Delegate thoughtfully. Handing something to a friend doesn’t always mean handing off the mental load.

Something will go wrong. That’s why you have a planner. Let them solve it so you can stay present.

Most importantly, focus on what’s going right. The people you love, the moments that matter, and the fact that you’re getting married.

The best wedding day isn’t a perfect one. It’s one where you’re actually there to experience it.

What an impossible task to talk about this day at Captain Whidbey. It was everything. Working with them for two years was the most even-keeled endeavor.

We had the time to be creative, silly, and genuinely enrolled in each other’s lives. I saw them through career transitions. They saw me become a parent. There was enough room for all of it in our relationship. They placed their trust in our creative know how.

We delivered above and beyond in the form of a custom build chuppah and lighting installation. The wedding day transcended our expectations. We were not only their wedding planners, but felt a part of their community and family. That is magic.

A little snippet of the sweetest review:

Where do I even begin! Kate was only the second wedding planner we officially met with, but my partner and I both let out a huge sigh of relief as soon as we got off our introductory call. We looked at each other and knew—we had found our person.

Over the course of a year, we built a friendship and a deep sense of trust while planning our wedding from across the country. Then we finally met her in person, and watching her in action on our wedding day alongside her AMAZING team completely blew me away.

There isn’t one “right” way to walk down the aisle.

Your processional can be steeped in tradition, completely rewritten, or somewhere beautifully in between. Walk in with your parents. Walk in together. Include your grandparents, your dog, your favorite people. Build a ceremony that reflects your story, not someone else’s expectations.

The most important part is creating a moment that feels authentic to you.

A little planning goes a long way, too. From choosing music cues to rehearsing pacing and helping everyone know where they’re supposed to be, a thoughtful processional allows you to be fully present when the ceremony begins.

Lighting was the main focus for this reception design. We wanted to rethink a space—typically used for cocktail hour or as a rain plan—and celebrate the design opportunities it presented. Controlling the lighting in an indoor space gives us ample opportunity to play. We were most inspired by organic movement and shadows, using tiny spot lighting on the table to dramatically underlight the floral and stationery. Our photographer also brought some fun wash lighting to play with. We created a number of dramatic looks that created a cozy, playful atmosphere perfect for an intimate wedding.
