Are you excited yet!? One (or two) more days until you get to see these talented musicians in the flesh!
Our current director, Alison Unsworth, has been involved in choral music her whole life. She earned her bachelor’s degree in choral education from Brigham Young University and her master’s degree in choral conducting from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina.
She has taught music in elementary, middle, and high schools, and has directed community adult and children’s choirs in North Carolina and Utah. Alison is an active choral singer, having sung with the Durham Civic Choral Society, the Vocal Arts Ensemble, and the Duke University Collegium Musicum in North Carolina, as well as the Utah Chamber Artists, the Salt Lake Vocal Artists, and the Choir of the Cathedral of the Madeleine. Alison has toured throughout the United States, China, and Europe as a choral singer. She took Wasatch Chorale on tour to New York City for the Chorale’s 50th anniversary in 2025.
For over thirty years she taught private piano, voice, and conducting lessons, and is a frequent accompanist. In addition to the Wasatch Chorale, she currently conducts the Sterling Singers, a community choir based in the Salt Lake Valley. Additionally, Alison recently began working on the new hymnbook project for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and her husband, Andy, have five children.
If you didn't know much about Alison before now, you may have recognized her name because of her husband, Andrew Unsworth, who is a Tabernacle Organist at Temple Square. Now that you've read her impressive background, you can see what amazing talent their family holds! (Did I mention they met at BYU in a music class?)
We are so blessed to be under the direction of such a talented conductor, and have leaned so much from Alison!
Have you bought your tickets yet?? Get them now before they sell out!!
