This Pentecost Sunday, Evan Rodgers shared a message titled “Rivers of Living Water,” centered on Acts 2:1–21 and John 7:37–39. Reflecting on Christ’s invitation to “come to the waters,” the sermon explored the Holy Spirit as living water — a sustaining and renewing presence that nourishes the soul and gives strength for daily life. Drawing connections to Psalm 42, Psalm 143, Isaiah 55, and John 4, the message reminded us that the spiritual well Christ offers never runs dry. Just as Jesus described himself as the Bread of Life, the Spirit becomes the energy and sustenance that helps us navigate life with hope, purpose, and faith.
The sermon encouraged the congregation to intentionally receive the miracles and beauty God is constantly offering in everyday life. Through prayer, meditation, mindfulness, Sabbath rest, worship, relationships, and time spent in nature, we open ourselves to the movement of the Spirit. Evan reflected on how easy it can be to focus on negativity, yet Pentecost calls us instead to recognize the goodness of God working all around us — often through simple and small moments of transformation.
Inspired by the hymn “God of Change and Glory,” the message also emphasized the importance of diversity, inclusion, and interfaith dialogue. God works through many people, experiences, and communities, and faith invites us not only to believe, but also to participate, belong, and share in devotion together. Pentecost serves as a reminder that the Spirit is poured out on everyone, calling all people toward compassion, understanding, renewal, and living water that continues to flow freely for all.
