We’ve got another workshop on the calendar, all levels are welcome!
Join us for a two-part embroidery/mixed media workshop by artist 🪡 Learn how to incorporate needlework with watercolor/ink techniques, and basic stitches & how they can be blended with other materials to create mixed media work. Bring in your own inspiration or get inspired by the techniques and see what happens with your piece!
Day 1 (Saturday May 3 10-12PM):
Introduction to materials, learn and practice basic embroidery stitches, brainstorm ideas for the work you want to create.
Day 2 (Saturday May 10 10-12PM)
Work with watercolour and inks to create a base for your work, start to add embroidery. Demonstration of how to finish piece.
Day 3 *optional* (Saturday May 17 10-12PM):
Bring in your near completed or completed piece. We can troubleshoot any problems you’ve come across and work your way to your completed work!
Participants are responsible for their own materials, instructor will bring fabric, wax (for threading) and some additional materials and tools to explore. There will also be an iron at all sessions to help set thread or dry piece.
Suggested Materials To Bring:
- Embroidery hoop (any size)
- Embroidery needles (often have larger eye for easy threading)
- Embroidery thread (various colours if you have any specific wants, there will be some at each session, but limited numbers
- Inks, paints (watercolour recommended), brushes
- Pencils, markers, drawing utensils
- Sketchbook or a few pieces of paper
- Any inspiration- pictures, sketches, materials you may want to experiment with, etc. (piece can be literal or abstract)
