This Oregon Coast event feels like summer in a bottle, and thoughtful lighting is like a cheat code to a magical atmosphere! 💡✨

This dreamy 70s-meets-modern shoot was just published over at and we’re so thrilled! Here are our quick lighting-focused tips for adding a little retro flair ✨ to your day:

1. Warm rich colors: for the linens the florals the clothes and OF COURSE the lighting too! Think Amber, gold, candlelight, and pops of rich sunset orange and leaf green.
2. Statement lighting: cha delivers, pendants, bulbs in big dramatic clusters, mirrorballs— lots of options to suit your style, it just needs to make a statement and define a space! Here we hung cascading glass pendants over the tables, mixed oversized bulbs asymmetrically accenting the ceremony, and a giant 2’ orb hung nice and low over the lounge.
3. Unserious details: glowing orbs lining the steps, colorful bulbs mixed into the cafe string lights, creating faux stained glass windowpanes— taking some risks and doing something unexpected is the secret to a fun and uniquely ‘you’ design!
4. Above all, ✨vibes✨: once it’s dark how do you want your event to feel? There’s no wrong answer, but your lighting design will dictate the look and feeling of your whole event once the sun sets. For a moody 79s conversation pit you’ll need those rich colors and statement pieces (plus some glowy tabletop lamps) to create the groovy look.

When we say rainy wedding days are the most beautiful, THIS is what we mean! 🌧️

An overcast day lets us create warm, intimate spaces for you and your guests that feel extra magical when it’s grey and chilly outside.

For R+S, we used gold-dipped bulbs, floating lanterns, glowing path lighting, and soft tent illumination to usher guests into beautifully designed spaces. The perfectly PNW weather was just the icing on the cake!

B+F got married on one of the hottest days of the summer, and we always think back to this one when it starts to get warm!

How do you create an event that feels completely curated? (Spoilers, it’s 💡💡💡)

We love crafting custom experiences for attendees by using lighting to tell the story of the event! In our first pic, our friends at asked us to convey the theme of “strong roots, new heights”. To help support that goal, we creating a subtly shifting leafy canopy on their tent ceiling, evoking sunlight dappling through trees. We added focal points to their logo banners placed around the perimeter of the tent. And organic clusters of glowing orbs and trailing vine chandeliers reinforced the overall design of this incredible event!

This kind of thoughtful ambiance elevates the entire attendee experience, with the end result of fundraising goals being met (and even exceeded!)

Lighting up the historic #700 with our friends at for the annual Holiday Express!

This is one of our favorite events every year and one we’re so honored to participate in— it’s a Portland tradition!

The Holiday Express runs from November 24th through December 17th and features a magical Christmas ride behind a 1912 (!!) steam locomotive.

Plus…some pretty great Christmas lights too 😉
