The grants support new theater productions, concerts, public art installations, historical exhibitions, and other exciting events—including six new projects that will reflect on America’s 250th anniversary in 2026.

We're thrilled to share a special sneak peek of "A Life I Never Dreamt Of," one of NINE new postcard carols premiering at A Feast of Carols this weekend!

Composed by our Artistic Director Dominick DiOrio, this season's collection celebrates the wonder of Christ's birth, honors cherished relationships and memories, and embraces the joy of community gathered in faith and fellowship.

This heartfelt carol was commissioned by MCP singer Ilene Miller and her siblings to celebrate their parents Bernie and Rosa's 70th anniversary—a beautiful example of how music creates lasting legacies!

We're thrilled to premiere GREAT MIRACLES by Philadelphia-born composer Rex Isenberg this weekend at A Feast of Carols!

This stunning new work celebrates the miracles that surround us—from the ancient story of Hanukkah to the joy of new life and the everyday wonders we often overlook. Featuring brass, organ, and our full chorus, the piece alternates between intimate, contemplative moments and powerful choral grandeur.

"At a time of so much hardship... I want this piece to be a reminder of the wonderful and beautiful things still happening all around us," Rex shares.

Actor and retired U.S. Marine Rob Riggle was master of ceremonies for the "Victory at Sea" concert in Philadelphia marking the Navy's 250th anniversary. Entertainment also included Patti LaBelle and the Elite Marine Corps Band.

🎶 FREE ORGAN RECITAL THIS WEEKEND! 🎶

Mendelssohn Chorus is happy to help promote a spectacular organ recital this Saturday, November 8th at 3:00 PM at Tindley Temple Methodist Church featuring the extraordinary Alcee Chriss!
Our friends at the American Guild of Organists - Philadelphia Chapter are hosting this wonderful event, and admission is FREE!

Dr. Chriss is the first-prize and Bach prize winner of the 2017 Canadian International Organ Competition and is widely regarded as one of the leading young organists of our time. Featured in the PBS documentary Pipe Dreams, he's known for his virtuosity and unique ability to incorporate gospel and jazz influences into his performances. Currently serving as University Organist and Artist-in-Residence at Wesleyan University, Dr. Chriss has been celebrated for his "grace, skill and abundant proficiency" and performs throughout North America and Europe.

THIS SATURDAY 11/8 @3!! This Chapter event features Dr. Alcee Chriss at Tindley Temple, one of the most significant instruments in our region! Put this on your calendar and we'll see you then. What a privilege to hear him for FREE!
