highlighting a producer we love: Tom Lubbe of Matassa
Roussillon, nestled between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean, has long been known for bulk wine—but producers like Matassa are redefining the region with one-of-a-kind, simply delicious wines that highlight its true potential

their old vines are incredibly low-yielding, resulting in intense concentration and focus

currently in the shop: VdF 2023 'Cuvee Marguerite' (blend of Macabeu, Muscat d'Alexandrie, and Muscat Petit Grain) and named after Tom's wife Natalie's grandmother. whole cluster, co-fermented in concrete, then aged on the lees in foudres notes of tropical fruits and flowers, rich and refreshing on the palate

VdF 2023 'Cuvee Romanissa" (named for it's single vineyard composed of red schist, Romanissa is 100% Grenache, also known as Lledoner Pelut in Catalonian dialect). delicate on the nose, red fruits, flowers, and herbs are paired with silky tannins
