I’m always looking at runway collections through the details — texture, silhouette, color, and accessories that can be translated into South Asian bridal fashion in a way that feels considered, memorable, and visually compelling.

What stood out to me here was the way flowers were reimagined beyond decoration. A hand-painted silk organza scarf felt almost like a wedding garland. A vibrant orange look carried the richness and joy that feels so natural to South Asian weddings. Sculptural 3D florals introduced a new texture-driven bridal language, while floral accessories opened up another way to bring fantasy into the styling.

For me, this is where bridal styling becomes most interesting: not recreating couture, but reading it through a South Asian bridal lens — using it to bring a new perspective to bridalwear.

Two weeks before the wedding, Nivi and I decided to shift the direction of her wedding decor and lean into the colors and textures already living within the natural landscape. Lavender Lawn had these beautiful layers of greenery, pampas grass, and bright florals, so we chose a floral palette that felt like it belonged there — as though it had naturally existed within the space all along.

The goal was to create a mandap that felt organic to Lavender Lawn while allowing Nivi and V remain the focal point.

For me, the space the look sits within is just as important as the outfit itself. Wedding styling is never only about selecting beautiful pieces. It’s about understanding how the outfit, decor, florals, jewelry, beauty direction, and overall atmosphere come together to create one fully realized vision.

For Nivi, the starting point was a well-known bridal lehenga — but the final look was shaped entirely around her.

Drawing from a Jean Paul Gaultier runway reference, we developed a custom veil and refined the embroidery placement, density, and silhouette through multiple rounds of sketches, fit samples, virtual meetings, and countless small decisions.

Slowly, the look moved away from something recognizable and became something distinctly hers.

In Nivi’s words:

“Thank you so much for translating everything that I saw and felt in my head to the most perfect outfits with styling that just elevated every look.”

From gothic romance and Renaissance drama to softened tailoring, painterly palettes, and fashion-driven pink moments—I found inspiration in the unconventional details, color stories, and silhouettes that, from a styling perspective, could beautifully translate into bridalwear.

A reminder that modern bridal inspiration doesn’t always come from bridal collections. Sometimes the most compelling references arrive on entirely different carpets.
