Position Summary
The Director of Development plays a key leadership role in advancing the mission of the organization through strategic fundraising and donor engagement. This position is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing all fundraising activities, building and maintaining donor relationships, securing grants, and leading outreach efforts to grow community support.

Key Responsibilities
🟢 Fundraising and Development
• Develop and implement fundraising strategies: identify potential funding sources, set measurable goals, and execute effective plans to meet revenue targets.
• Donor cultivation and stewardship: build and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.
• Grant writing and management: research grant opportunities, write compelling proposals, and ensure timely reporting and compliance with funder requirements.
• Plan and execute fundraising events: organize and oversee special events to engage donors and raise funds, ensuring alignment with overall development goals.
• Major gifts strategy: identify, cultivate, and solicit high-net-worth individuals capable of making significant contributions.
• Manage fundraising budgets: oversee fundraising income and expenses, ensuring cost-effective practices and adherence to budgetary guidelines.
🟢 Communication and Community Engagement
• Develop communication strategies: create and implement outreach plans to inform and engage donors, partners, and the broader community.
• Public speaking and representation: represent the organization at events, meetings, and in the media to articulate the mission and impact.
• Community engagement: build relationships with key community stakeholders to raise visibility and foster local support.
🟢 Annual Report (Yearly)
• Collect and organize content from all departments to accurately reflect the year’s achievements.
• Interview staff, volunteers, and beneficiaries for stories/testimonials.
• Draft and edit copy; work with graphic designers or independently create layout.
• Coordinate with print and digital vendors to publish and distribute the report.
• Ensure all branding, donor recognition, and financial summaries are accurate and aligned with organizational goals.
🟢 Monthly Newsletter
• Plan and write monthly email newsletters using platforms like Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar.
• Curate content including upcoming events, program updates, volunteer highlights, and donation appeals.
• Maintain mailing lists and track engagement metrics to inform future improvements.
🟢 Social Media Management
• Develop and execute a content calendar across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.).
• Design or coordinate graphics, write captions, and schedule posts using tools like Canva and Buffer/Hootsuite.
• Monitor messages and comments; engage with followers and grow online community.
• Track analytics and adjust strategy to improve reach and engagement.
• Live post or share stories during events when appropriate.
🟢 Leadership and Administration
• Staff and volunteer supervision: lead, support, and coordinate development staff and volunteers involved in fundraising activities.
• Monitor and report progress: track and evaluate fundraising performance, adjusting strategies as needed to meet goals.
• Stay informed on trends: remain current on best practices and emerging trends in nonprofit development and donor engagement.

Qualifications
✔️ Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or related field (Master’s preferred)
✔️ Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising or development
✔️ Proven success in securing funding from diverse sources, including major gifts, grants, and events
✔️ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
✔️ Strong organizational and project management abilities
✔️ Proficiency with fundraising software (e.g., DonorPerfect, Raiser’s Edge, or similar) is a plus
