Sunday, I had my first Event Planning 101 class of the year! This class was a little different, as I was asked to structure my lesson more for a new venue owner. I was absolutely delighted to share my knowledge as it pertains to venues. Although, I’ve never owned a venue. I’ve been blessed to have worked at some amazing venues in this city for 9 years now. I’ve even had my share of volunteering behind the scenes my first few years of business at an event venue.

I structured the class with a list of important information new venue owners need.

Hiring a wedding planner can save you time, stress, and sometimes even money, but only if you choose the "right" one for you. Before you sign a contract, make sure you check these key things:

1️⃣ **Services Offered**
Not all planners do the same job. Some handle full-service planning, while others only coordinate the wedding day. Make sure their package matches how much help you actually need.

2️⃣ **Experience & Style**
Look through their past weddings. Do their events match your vision- elegant, modern, rustic, luxury, intimate? A great planner should naturally align with your aesthetic.

3️⃣ **Budget Transparency**
Ask how they can help manage your budget. The right planner won’t pressure you to overspend, they’ll help prioritize what matters most. And if your budget is unrealistic, do not be offered when they speak up.

4️⃣ **Vendor Connections**
Strong vendor relationships can mean better pricing, smoother timelines, and trusted professionals. Ask who they regularly work with.

5️⃣ **Communication Style**
You’ll be talking a lot. Make sure they respond clearly, respectfully, and in a timeframe that makes you comfortable.
