Nerd Nite - Lawrence Nerd Nite is a monthly lecture event where nerds get together for presentations and drinking. Nerds

Nerd Nite is an international organization and is now held in almost seventy major cities across the globe. Originating in Boston, the Lawrence chapter can trace its roots to some of the founding members from Boston to NYC to Austin, TX, and finally to Lawrence, KS. The three people who established the Lawrence chapter were Nick Ray, Dave Trimbach, and Travis Weller.

Nerd Nite 120 takes us to the ropes as David Shipley walks us through "The Crimson Mask: the art of 'blading' In professional wrestling." This is the first time I remember that a "there will be blood" trigger warning at a Nerd Nite was needed. David ties the history of modern wrestling to old circus and carnival tricks, highlighting "red equals green, people pay to see violence." Wrestling is fake, but the blood may be real!
