Etched above the grand entry of Trust46, the words “Farmers Bank and Trust Company of Lancaster” speak to the building’s storied past.

Step into a space where old-world charm meets refined elegance—the Orangery at Conestoga House & Gardens is unlike anything else in Lancaster.

Originally envisioned by Mrs. Steinman in the 1940s and brought to life by architect Walter Macomber, this light-filled room tells a story of timeless beauty. Its black and white marble floors, salvaged from a chapel in war-torn Italy, lend a romantic, European feel that elevates any gathering.

Whether you're planning an intimate family dinner, a bridal shower, a styled photoshoot, or a quiet celebration, the Orangery offers a setting that feels both personal and extraordinary.

We’re proud to share that Trust46 has been honored with the Adaptive Reuse Award from the Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County. This award, presented annually at the C. Emlen Urban Awards—named after Lancaster’s legendary architect—recognizes outstanding projects that creatively preserve and repurpose historic buildings for new uses.

This award celebrates projects that breathe new life into historic buildings, and we are proud to introduce Trust46 as a shining example. Originally built as The Farmers Trust Company of Lancaster, this iconic 1928 Georgian Revival style building was redesigned by architect Melvern R. Evans. We preserved many of its stunning original features—like the mansard roof, grand round-arched windows, and intricate limestone balustrade—while thoughtfully transforming the space into a modern event venue.

Guests are welcomed by a custom brass front door and enter into a breathtaking 6,500 sq ft ballroom. Here, the restored travertine tile, ornate columns, original mural, and soaring 30-foot barreled ceiling with grand chandeliers keep the building’s historic elegance alive. The former bank vaults have been creatively repurposed into intimate event spaces, while original details like the bank teller stanchions have been restored as stair railings.

Trust46 beautifully balances Lancaster’s rich heritage with contemporary sophistication, creating a timeless space for the community to gather and celebrate.

Thank you to the Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County for this recognition—preserving history, one event at a time. 🏛️✨

Swipe to uncover a little piece of history.

In honor of today—April 24th—we’re highlighting this intriguing inscription, which appears to be dated April 24, 1923. While there’s some debate about the exact year, it just might mark a moment left behind 100 years ago.

This engraving was discovered during renovations at Trust46, hidden behind our main vault in a tight crawl space. It looks like a workman signed and dated his labor—a quiet voice echoing from the past.

History doesn’t always speak clearly, but it always has a story to tell.

What do you think the date says?
