Kansas City, we’re ready for another night of Spirit and Song.

On Friday, September 25, Jass takes over Zhou B Art Center KC for an intimate live performance surrounded by art, community, and the energy of the gallery.

Spirit and Song was created to give Kansas City artists space to be heard, seen, and experienced a little differently. No crowded club. No distractions. Just an artist, their music, and a room full of people ready to listen.

At the heart of SYMBIOSIS is a creative community we’re incredibly excited to have in our galleries.

Our friends at Imagine That! Kansas City have spent more than a decade creating space for artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities to build their practices, explore new ideas and mediums, and share their work with the world.

And with SYMBIOSIS, we get to share a little more of that community with you.

This exhibition is filled with work that feels curious, personal, unexpected, and completely individual to the artists who created it. It’s also a reminder of why spaces for artists to create freely, be taken seriously, and connect with new audiences matter.

We hope you’ll spend some time with the artists and their work when SYMBIOSIS opens October 2.

We sat down with Mark to talk about his creative process, what inspires him, and the perspective behind the art you’ll find inside his studio at Zhou B.

A little behind the scenes of our FIRST Zhou Spirit & Song!

Watch the gallery transform as we got ready to welcome Jamogi and then Jammers for a night of live music, art, and good energy.

This is exactly what Spirit & Song is about: giving Kansas City artists a space to bring their sound, their people, and their energy into the gallery.
