One of the greatest compliments we can receive is when someone invites us back.

A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of returning to Orem, Utah for another private event with our buddy Kimble Smith, his family, friends, and neighbors.

With Lee Thomas Miller, Wendell Mobley, and Rhett Akins, it was a wonderful summer evening filled with great music, food, fireworks and amazing people.

Thank you, Kimble, for your friendship and for inviting us back. It’s people like you who remind us that the greatest part of what we do isn’t simply sharing great songs and stories —it’s the relationships and memories we’re fortunate to build along the way.

Three years. Three unforgettable evenings. One incredible partnership.

We recently returned to the DFW area for our third event with GDS Wealth, this time at the Dallas Cowboys’ Ford Center in Frisco, where more than 600 clients and guests joined us for an evening with Chris DeStefano, J.T. Harding, Trannie Anderson, and Wendell Mobley.

One of the most rewarding parts of what we do is watching genuine connections happen naturally.

It starts with the hit songs and the stories. After the performance, the connections continue. Guests gather to meet the songwriters, ask questions, share their own stories, take photos, and simply enjoy spending time together.

Those conversations spark new connections, some new friendships, and memories that become part of the experience.

To us, that’s all part of what makes a Songwriter City event so special.

Thank you to GDS Wealth for inviting us back for a third year. It’s a privilege to continue building something meaningful—and fun—together.

We’ve been fortunate to be part of some incredible events over the years, but every once in a while, an experience becomes about so much more than the show itself.

This Fourth of July in Midway, Utah, was one of those times.

Surrounded by the mountains outside Park City, we had the honor of being part of an incredible private celebration of America’s 250th birthday with the Warren Brothers and Lee Thomas Miller.

There was a jet flyover, a cookout, games, great music, unforgettable stories, and plenty of laughter. But what made the experience truly special were the people.

The warmth, kindness, and generosity we experienced made us feel like part of something much more than an event. New relationships were formed, stories were shared, and genuine connections happened throughout the day.

We’re incredibly grateful to have been invited into such a meaningful celebration and to share it with some truly wonderful people.

This is what we love about what we do. The music and stories may bring everyone together, but it’s the connection that makes it even more meaningful.

Cvent CONNECT 2026 was an incredible few days of conversations, connections, and learning alongside some of the best in the meetings and events industry.

We came to listen and to better understand what event planners, agencies, and brands are looking for and what truly makes an experience matter to the people in the room.

One thing came through clearly: people want more than entertainment. They’re looking for experiences that feel authentic, create connection, inspire, and bring people together.

That’s exactly why Songwriter City was there, and why we believe the stories behind the songs, shared by the world-class hit songwriters who lived them, can play such a powerful role in creating those experiences.

Grateful for the relationships, ideas, and opportunities that came out of an incredible week at .

Today we lost one of the greatest songwriters of all time, Don Schlitz.

I first got to know Don over lunch in 2017. I shared what we were building with Songwriter City, and he told me it aligned with what he wanted to be doing. That meant a lot coming from someone of his stature. From there, we spent a few years booking shows together, having the occasional breakfast since we lived in the same part of town, and he was exactly who you’d hope he’d be….kind, thoughtful, easy to work with, and just a pleasure to be around.

Getting to sit in the room and hear him tell the stories behind some of the most iconic songs in music history….that’s something I’ll always hold close.

What makes it even more meaningful is that Don wasn’t just part of the songwriter round format we all benefit from today - he helped create it. As one of the original writers in the round at the Bluebird, he played a role in shaping the very experience we now build our business around and share with people from all around the world.

And when he took the stage, people didn’t just listen, they were astounded. And me along with them.

A true gentleman. A legend in every sense.

Grateful for the time we had.

Rest easy, Don.

- Mike
