Today, we honor Juneteenth, a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of justice.

Stories have always been powerful tools for preserving history, amplifying voices, and imagining a better future. Today, we recognize the Black writers, poets, journalists, and storytellers whose work continues to shape our communities and inspire change.

As we celebrate, we encourage you to read Black authors, support Black creatives, and reflect on the power of storytelling to preserve truth and create connection.

Happy Juneteenth. ❤️🖤💚✍️

Originally from Ukraine, Oksana moved to the U.S. with her husband in 2020, bringing their lives in just two suitcases during the height of the pandemic.
After a 15-year break from writing, she returned to the page as a way to process change, loneliness, and the experience of starting over in

Today, Oksana writes lyrical essays — one of which was featured in the Detroit Writing Room anthology “Detroit Voices” — and dreams of writing a romance novel someday. A former molecular biologist and web developer, she's now a stay-at-home mom who often writes on her phone, proving that inspiration can happen anywhere.

💡 What can their story teach us?
❤️ What might we learn if we took the time to listen?

Take a few minutes to write, reflect and share your perspective. 📝☕🌟 Every person has a story worth telling.
