Swizzle and Whisk

Swizzle and Whisk Cocktails, mocktails, small-batch catering, and bold artisanal blends that refuse to behave. Private Welcome to Swizzle and Whisk, where rebellion meets recipe.

We craft bold cocktails, zero-proof sips, and small-batch sweets with attitude. Curated chaos. Crafted flavor. Texas-made and unapologetically spirited.

Working on the website. Brainstorming new syrup flavors. Adding to the bar book. Cleaning out rooms so I can finally organize the chaos I’ve apparently been cultivating as a hobby. Meanwhile, my incredibly brave guard dog is holding down the couch like it’s a full-time career.

It’s my day off, which apparently just means I get to choose which work I’m doing.

Will I remember to eat today? Jury’s still out. But I did make an iced coffee that could probably qualify as emotional support, so I’d call that a solid start. ☕

Tonight’s episode of Poor Decisions and Perseverance is brought to you by salted caramel Baileys, Frangelico, coffee liqueur, Chambord, and the fact that apparently my day off was just a rumor.

Spent the day wrestling with my website, which has me feeling like I’d get absolutely curb-stomped on a reboot of Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? Every time I fix one thing, three more things pop up and demand adult supervision. Unfortunately, I am the adult supervision.

Somewhere between eleventy billion things on my to-do list and the approximately seventeen browser tabs open in my brain, I may have accidentally stumbled onto what I think could be a sleeper-hit syrup. So if all goes according to plan, chaos will be bottled and available later this week.

For now, it’s dessert disguised as a cocktail, mindless feel-good movies at 1:30 a.m., and aggressively avoiding eye contact with my responsibilities.

Productive? Debatable.

Still standing? Also debatable. 🍸📺

It’s 2:50 a.m.

I spent a concerning amount of my evening in a never-ending time loop where I kept explaining that the restaurant requires shoes.

Shoes.

Not a tuxedo. Not a background check. Just footwear.

Every conversation somehow ended with me saying, “Please put your shoes back on,” like I was running a daycare for aggressively confident adults.

Then we moved on to the exciting sequel: “No, you can’t bring your own beer into the bar.”

A sentence I apparently needed to repeat enough times that it became part of my personality.

Anyway.

I am now on my couch with an old fashioned made with my new bergamot, orange and vanilla Demerara syrup, plum bitters, and Bulleit. Virgin River is on. The lights are low. My eye twitch is settling down.

It was either this or end up on a true crime documentary.

The old fashioned seemed like the healthier choice.

Took a break from cleaning because I was putting syrup containers away and discovered there was only about an ounce of Burnt to a Fig left.

Obviously the responsible thing to do was not waste an entire ounce of perfectly good syrup.

So now I’m sitting here with an old fashioned, Baxter is passed out like he’s exhausted from supervising, Canada has scored AGAIN, and the cleaning is currently losing to soccer while patiently waiting for me to get my life together. Which sounds suspiciously like a future Eva problem.

Still need to finish the new website. Still need to figure out dinner. Still planning to watch the Mexico game later.

At this point I’m less “getting things done” and more “wandering between tasks with purpose and a cocktail.”

Breaking news: the World Cup is on, which means I will spend the next few weeks loudly critiquing professional athletes from the comfort of a bar stool while my knees file formal complaints.

Somewhere deep in my soul, I still think I can make that run, score that goal, and survive it. Reality, however, remembers my age, my work schedule, and the fact that I pulled a muscle reaching for a bottle opener last week.

Anyway, if you need me, I’ll be working, watching soccer, and briefly convincing myself that if Coach put me in, we’d turn this whole thing around.

NEW SYRUP ALERT: STEEPED IN SCANDAL 🫖🍊🥃

Historically speaking, tea has a long and distinguished record of being involved in acts of rebellion.

Who am I to ignore tradition?

Steeped in Scandal is built from Earl Grey tea, charred orange peel, vanilla, and rich demerara sugar. Designed for old fashioneds, strong opinions, and people who aren’t interested in being told to stay quiet and color inside the lines.

It’s smoky. It’s citrusy. It’s slightly bitter. It’s complicated.

Much like reading the news lately.

So here’s to questioning authority, challenging nonsense, and keeping your bourbon properly supplied for whatever fresh chaos tomorrow brings.

Day off.

Which apparently means making dinner and finding increasingly creative ways to avoid the dishes.

Today’s survival strategy is a cinnamon hazelnut cold brew with Mr. Grind Double Espresso Liqueur and Licor 43.

At this point, caffeine isn’t a beverage. It’s infrastructure.

I’ve managed to accomplish several absolutely unnecessary things, started approximately fourteen new thoughts, and rested exactly zero minutes.

Dinner is cooking. The dishes are pretending they don’t exist. I’m pretending that’s a problem for Future Eva.

If anyone needs me, I’ll be over here drinking what’s essentially coffee with a graduate degree.

Need advice from people who know computer things.

My current web host and I are no longer compatible. It’s not me. It’s definitely them.

I want to move my website somewhere else, and I’m currently leaning toward Shopify, but every article I read immediately starts throwing around terms like DNS, name servers, propagation, and other phrases that sound completely made up.

What I need:
• Keep my domain
• Keep my email
• Spend as little money as possible

What I don’t need:
• A six-hour YouTube rabbit hole
• A subscription that costs more than my groceries
• The opportunity to accidentally delete my business from the internet

Can somebody explain how this works in normal people language?

I swear I can learn complicated things. I’ve built a business, survived hospitality, and regularly convince people to trust me with sharp knives, open flames, and questionable levels of caffeine.

But for some reason website hosting is where my brain clocks out and goes home.

If you’ve moved to Shopify and managed to keep your domain and email intact, I’d love to hear how painful the process actually was.

Galveston people! 📣

We’re at Moody Gardens for the Steampunk Festival today until 9 PM!

The crew from Swizzle & Whisk and Touch of Magic Workshop has officially arrived, armed with mocktails, syrups, baked goods, and an alarming amount of determination.

Rachel and I have spent the last week operating on caffeine, chaos, and sheer force of will to get everything ready for today. The result? A booth full of handcrafted goodies and two women who are refusing to acknowledge how little sleep we’ve had.

Come find us, grab a mocktail, stock up on syrups, browse the magic, and help justify our questionable life choices.

The Old Fashioned has officially been replaced with cold brew.

Today’s accomplishments include:
✔️ Made syrup
✔️ Candied pecans
✔️ Dehydrated apples for this weekend’s mocktails
✔️ Added seventeen more items to my to-do list

The Steampunk Festival is this weekend, and Swizzle & Whisk headquarters currently looks like a coffee-fueled scavenger hunt. Every flat surface is either ingredients, labels, bottles, baked goods, or evidence that I have absolutely no concept of “keeping it simple.”

Still to come: bottling, baking, packing, labeling, and whatever fresh chaos my brain decides we need at 2 a.m.

If you need me, I’ll be over here converting cold brew into productivity and pretending this list is getting shorter.

Wish me luck. Or a second cold brew
