Before you come on social media for views and engagement and start attacking African restaurant owners because you think our food is “too expensive,” please understand the business first.
We are operating an African food business in America, where Nigerians make up only a small percentage of the population. Our customer market is already limited compared with mainstream American food businesses, yet we pay the SAME American rent, wages, utilities, insurance, taxes, permits, and operating expenses. On top of that, many of the authentic ingredients we use are expensive and sometimes imported.
So how exactly do you expect African restaurants to survive, grow, employ people, and represent our culture if everything must be sold cheaply?
You are entitled to decide what you can afford. You are NOT entitled to tear down hardworking business owners simply because their prices don’t fit your budget.
And to the person making this content: tread carefully. Constructive criticism is welcome, but repeatedly targeting our business for views and comments will not go unanswered.
We have worked too hard to build this brand to allow anyone to casually damage its reputation.
Support African businesses. Correct us when necessary. But don’t tear us down for content. 🇳🇬🇺🇸
