How can one birthday party carry a family’s roots into the next generation?
Noah was born and raised in America. At two years old, he is still too young to understand what Vietnam means to his family.
So for his second birthday, his parents wanted to bring a little piece of Vietnam to him.
But not just any Vietnam. They wanted to bring back the Vietnam they remember growing up in, the Vietnam of the 80s and 90s.
So we recreated the old neighborhood shops, familiar grocery stores, nostalgic signs, and all the little details that made Vietnam feel like home. And the moment their family and friends walked in, the party became a little trip back in time. They recognized the places, the signs, the little details they hadn’t thought about in years.
That was the heart of The Old Vietnam.
While Noah is growing up in a very different country, his parents wanted him to know the world they came from: to see what their Vietnam looked like, to glimpse the childhood they remember, and to understand the everyday culture that became part of who they are.
One day, when Noah looks back at these photographs, they can become more than memories of his second birthday. They can become a window into his parents’ childhood and a glimpse into the place where his family’s story began.
Because no matter how far Noah goes in life, his parents hope he will always remember his roots: his family, his story, and the Vietnam that came before him.
