For those curious, this year the 2024 Met Gala theme is "The Garden of Time," which complemented the Costume Institute's exhibition titled "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion."
The "Sleeping Beauties" exhibition showcases around 250 pieces from the Costume Institute's collection, focusing on garments that are rarely seen due to their fragility. The idea was to bring these "sleeping beauties" back to life, so to speak, and put them on display.
The "Garden of Time" theme itself drew inspiration from J.G. Ballard's 1962 short story. It encouraged guests to interpret fashion through the lens of time, blurring the lines between past and present.
Here's a quick history of the Met Gala:
The Met Gala, formally called the Costume Institute Benefit, has been around since 1948.
It wasn't until 1973 that the event began featuring themes, with "The World of Balenciaga" kicking things off.
Each year's theme ties in with the Costume Institute's latest exhibition.

A rainy Houston day is how we started an early morning for Ready To Love production. I have ALWAYS loved filming and being on film as well as behind the scenes on film. There is such an energy that goes with it. I guess it has always been in me to live my life out in a big way.
CO.V. ID made this an extremely quick turn time which gave us staff limitations in order to keep everyone safe. OWN plays NO games when it comes to safety. I felt comfortable being on site during filming.
The hustle and professionalism in everyone BTS with this production was amazing . Everyone made sure they were distanced and wearing masks even while setting up and filming from 10 am to breaking down at 9 pm. It was well done!! I am happy to have been a part of a show representing our people in such a classy way. I look forward to doing this again.
