What haunts us?
It’s October, so obviously we should spend a Monday night talking about ghosts.
But maybe not just the spooky kind.
On Monday, October 5, The Siposium is getting a little haunted with Haunted Elegies, an evening exploring poetry, grief, memory, ghosts, and the things that linger long after they're gone.
We'll be joined by Columbus poet Charlene Fix, whose newest collection is Habitat of Ghosts. She'll share her own work along with poems from other writers, and then we'll get a chance to write some of our own using prompts she provides. The brave among us can even share what we come up with.
And that's really what The Siposium is all about: curious people getting together to learn something weird, fascinating, and a little unexpected. Think NPR or a TED Talk, but with drinks, conversation, trivia, and a room full of people who are genuinely interested in the world around them.
So if you're the kind of person who thinks:
“I love learning weird things.”
“I haven't been to a poetry event in forever.”
“Tell me more about ghosts.”
“I would absolutely attend a TED Talk if there were beer.”
“I want to meet interesting people who are curious about stuff.”
…this might be your kind of Monday night.
