Hi, I’m Abbie. 🀍

The person behind OKOTA, usually with a camera in hand and probably talking way too much about pretty light. πŸ˜‚

I started photographing weddings as a teenager, and somehow what started all those years ago turned into the business, creative studio, and life I have today.

These days, I photograph weddings throughout Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Ohio, and wherever love takes me. But photography is only part of what I love about this work.

I love the details. The design. The people. The little moments nobody planned for. The beautiful things someone spent months choosing. The grandmother’s earrings. The handmade invitation. The flowers. The way someone looks at their person when they think nobody is watching.

I think that’s why OKOTA has grown into more than photography. I’ve always loved creating the whole visual story, not just documenting one piece of it.

But behind all of that, I’m still just Abbie. 😊

A photographer who genuinely loves weddings, loves making things, loves meeting new people, and feels pretty lucky that this is what I get to do for a living.

I could photograph invitations all day. 🀍

The paper, the texture, the layers, the ribbon, the little details that make a suite feel completely unique to the couple. There’s so much to notice before you even get to the wedding day.

Every suite you’re seeing here was created through NOTE by OKOTA, our fine-art stationery studio.

So yes, I may be photographing the invitation suite...

But sometimes I’m also the one who designed the artwork, chose the papers, layered the materials, selected the ribbon, and figured out all the little details that make it feel like them.

That’s one of my favorite parts of OKOTA Collective. I don’t always have to step into the story once everything is finished. Sometimes I get to help create the pieces that become part of it, too. 🀍

It’s so heartwarming to think that couples are looking for someone who already knows how to make them feel comfortable, knows how to make them look their best, and knows how to preserve the moments they never want to forget… and they choose me. 🀍

Flowers are one of my favorite things to photograph. 🀍

I love finding the little details in an arrangement, the way the light moves through the petals, the shape and movement of a bouquet, and all the ways florals become part of the story of a wedding day.

And then... a fun little fact about these particular flowers:

We designed all of them. πŸ‘€πŸŒΈ

Every floral moment you’re seeing here was designed by WILLOW by OKOTA, our floral design studio.

So yes, I may be photographing the flowers...

But sometimes I’m also the one who designed them, styled them, and made sure they fit into the bigger visual story of the day. 🀍

One of my favorite things about OKOTA Collective is getting to create from the beginning and then photograph the finished result.

One of the biggest things I want my couples to feel on their wedding day is that they’re in good hands. 🀍

You shouldn’t have to spend your wedding day wondering where you’re supposed to be, whether we have enough time for portraits, how to pose, whether the light is good, or what happens if the timeline falls a little behind.

That’s my job.

I’m watching the light. I’m watching the timeline. I’m looking for the moments happening around you. I’m guiding you when you need direction and stepping back when you don’t.

There’s a lot more that goes into photographing a wedding well than taking pretty pictures.

My goal is to make the photography feel like one less thing you have to think about, so you can actually be present for the day you spent so much time planning.

The photographs matter. But so does how you feel while they’re being made. 🀍

Engagement sessions will always be one of my favorite parts of the process. 🀍

Not just because we get to make beautiful photos together, but because it gives us a chance to get comfortable before the wedding day ever arrives.

You get to see how I work. You get to learn that when I say β€œI’ll guide you,” I really mean it. πŸ˜‚ And I get to learn how the two of you naturally move together, what makes you laugh, what feels comfortable, and what kind of direction works best for you.

So when your wedding day comes, getting in front of the camera doesn’t feel like a brand-new experience.

And honestly, that makes a difference.

Your engagement session can also be whatever you want it to be. A beautiful Cincinnati location, somewhere that means something to you, a favorite neighborhood, a coffee shop, or simply a place with great light and room to be yourselves.

It doesn’t have to feel like a photo shoot.

It can just feel like the two of you spending an afternoon together, with me there to preserve it. 🀍

And then you get a whole gallery of photographs from this little season of your life, too. That part is pretty special.
