Hi, it’s me 👋🏼

I’m Suzanne, the planner behind Toasted Events. I work with couples who want a wedding that feels as good as it looks, thoughtful, seamless, and deeply personal. I believe in good food, great music, a packed dance floor, and a well-planned day so it all unfolds effortlessly.

I don’t just plan celebrations, I believe in celebrating the people at the center of them. The vendors who show up with care and craft, the families holding their breath in the most meaningful moments, and the couples who place so much trust in me.

Even when it’s hard, we stay grounded in the joy, because that’s the point. And I do everything I can to make the process feel just as good as the day itself.

Some weddings stay with you. This one will stay with me forever.

Grace and Luis created a wedding weekend full of personality in every detail, from a disco cowboy welcome party to an Autumn in the Catskills wedding ceremony layered in texture and color, to a packed dance floor under a clear top tent, and a fireworks finale I’ve been dreaming of producing for years.

But what made it truly special was the partnership. Grace’s vision, Luis’s warmth, and families who trusted the process every step of the way.

Grateful to have been part of something this thoughtful, this fun, and completely them.

We lost a great one last weekend—my mother-in-law, Marsha.
She passed away peacefully with her son and daughter by her side, surrounded by love.

If you read my post back in March about the complicated relationship I had with my mother, you’ll understand just how healing it was to experience something so different with Marsha. My relationship with her was as simple and steady as love gets. She loved me unconditionally. When I married her son, I gained the mother I had always deserved.

Her mothering skills were exceptional—but her grandmothering skills were unmatched. I truly don’t know a more devoted grandmother. Even in her final days, she was worrying not about herself, but whether her illness was keeping her grandchildren from chasing their dreams. That was Marsha: fiercely loving, endlessly selfless, and always thinking of others.

Thank you, Marsha, for every single moment you shared with me—and especially for every single hug. You were the mightiest woman packed into a five-foot frame. I love you so much and will miss you endlessly.

10 years ago today, we made the same goofy face at the same time. Not much has changed about our relationship while absolutely everything around us has changed. Grateful that we continue to be the couple that grows together, dances together and laughs constantly. Love you the most Bret.

H+D’s wedding this Saturday will mark TWELVE times I’ve had the honor of working and it’s memorable and amazing each and every time. 10 weddings, 1 birthday and 1 corporate event and still going forever I hope. My mother passed away over the weekend, hopefully finding a peace and happiness on the other side that she rarely experienced in this life. She brought a lot of chaos, which eventually drove many people away—including me. But I like to imagine she’s now reunited with my dad, my stepdad, her parents, and all the others she lost along the way.

This first photo was taken on my wedding day—the last time we were truly together. By then, our relationship was already complicated, and I wasn’t sure she’d show up. I was fully prepared for her not to come, and fully prepared to enjoy the day if she did. You can see the happiness in the next slide—it was real.

Navigating that relationship and still having the best day of my life was transformative. It’s one of the reasons I became a wedding planner instead of staying in the world of corporate events. I know firsthand how important it is to work through family dynamics before the wedding day, so they don’t overshadow the joy. My goal is always to help my couples find clarity, peace, and presence—so they can fully experience the beauty of their day.

I’ve worked really hard to build a life full of happiness, no matter what. And I’ve been rewarded: with a beautiful marriage, a joyful child, deep friendships, and work I truly love. My brother has much of the same. If only our happiness had been enough to bring her peace. Still, that’s the legacy she leaves behind.
