"Musically, the BCO’s 2013-14 season-closing program Saturday was a showcase for solo flutists, and the display of trills, rapid-fire tonguing drills, and finger gymnastics was astonishing." - Boston Globe

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our concerts in November!

Below are highlights of the Jeremy Eichler Globe review:

Remarks on the Wagner: "Eaglen retains a powerful vocal instrument that delivered a visceral thrill as it flooded Faneuil Hall on Sunday, soaring above the orchestra and pinging off the walls and ceiling of the historic building..."

"For his part, Lipsitt delivered shapely and idiomatic support, and Peggy Pearson's oboe solo closed the song 'Stehe Still' with particular eloquence."

Highlights of the Boston Musical Intelligencer review:

Remarks on the Wagner: "(the) blending among the different instrumental choirs...inspired Eaglen to her most seductive singing."

Beethoven's Second Symphony: "Seeming entirely unfatigued, Lipsitt's players never flagged in the high-energy motoric rhythms, driving right through to the end without ri**rd. Once the audience caught its collective breath, the applause was appropriately vociferous."

BCO Pre-Concert Talk led by Mary Ann Nichols was amazing! The audience was inspired by four students of soprano Jane Eaglen at New England Conservatory who demonstrated Verdi and Wagner arias.

Patrons enjoyed a dramatic and vigorous BCO performance celebrating Wagner and Verdi's bicentennial year with esteemed soprano Jane Eaglen, whose voice soared in Faneuil Hall. Great closing performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2.

If you missed last night's performance, bring a friend and join us for our 3 pm concert today. Tickets start at $19 for students!

November’s program celebrates the 200th anniversary of the birthdays of Wagner and Verdi.

Our soloist, dramatic soprano Jane Eaglen will sing Wagner’s intimately-scaled Wesendonck Lieder. Ms. Eaglen has enjoyed one of the most formidable reputations in opera for the past two decades.

Join us on Saturday, November 16th at 8 pm or Sunday, November 17th at 3 pm.
