Caswell House is a beautiful turn-of-the century home conveniently located near the Texas state capitol and the University of Texas. It is the ideal setting for weddings, receptions, business meetings, luncheons, fundraisers, and other events. Rates are reasonable, and great flexibility exists in choosing caterers and other services. Owned and operated by the Austin Junior Forum, a women's volunteer organization, all proceeds from the rental of the house go back into the community through grants and community service projects. This elegant mansion is also honored on the National Register of Historic Places and recognized as a Texas Historic Landmark.

For more than 125 years, the Daniel H. Caswell House has stood on this hill, watching over the Texas Capitol as Austin has grown and changed around it.

Presidents have come and gone. Governors have changed. A quiet capital city has evolved into the Austin we know today, but the Caswell House remains.

Built at the turn of the 20th century, its walls have witnessed generations of Texas history unfold just beyond the front porch.

Still standing. Still watching. Still welcoming new stories.

Ten years ago, Jason & Mikel celebrated their wedding at the Caswell House.

On their 10th anniversary, they stopped by to visit the house, walk through the rooms, take a few photos, and remember a very special day in their story.

One of the things we love most about the Caswell House is knowing that the celebrations held within these walls become part of its history - and that, years later, couples can come back and find a little piece of their own story still here.

Happy 10th Anniversary, Jason & Mikel. It was truly special to welcome you back today.

This view from the Caswell House widow’s walk was captured in 1975, looking toward the Texas State Capitol.

The Caswell House was begun in 1899 and completed in 1901, little more than a decade after the new Texas Capitol was completed. More than 125 years later, the house still holds one of the most remarkable vantage points in Austin.

From the widow’s walk and through its windows, generations have looked out toward what is still, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful buildings in the state of Texas.

The skyline around it has changed dramatically, but that connection between the Caswell House and the Capitol remains — a view shared across more than a century of Austin history

This advertisement for Yaring’s department store was photographed inside the Caswell House shortly after the historic home underwent an extensive renovation. With its grand staircase, ornate woodwork, and unmistakable Victorian character, the newly restored house offered the perfect backdrop—capturing the romanticism of a bygone era while showcasing one of Austin’s most beloved local retailers.

More than four decades later, the Caswell House continues to welcome photographers, celebrations, meetings, and special events, preserving the beauty and stories of Austin’s past within its walls.
