The races that built iDaph.
Fifteen years of producing great events did not happen overnight.
Before the races you know today, there were kids crawling through obstacles, cyclists pushing through time trials, dogs beside their people at start lines, first time triathletes learning what multisport was all about and some seriously memorable days on the roads, trails and mountains of WNC.
These races were all part of our beginning:
GNAR, the Gnarliest Kids Adventure Race
Carolina Kids Multisport Series
Dig the Du
Lung Buster Time Trial Series
Run for the Paws
Pisgah Omnium
Collier Lilly Ride
Asheville Off Road Series
LPC Retro Triathlon
Appalachian Kids Triathlon
If those names take you back, then you have been with us for a while.
Every one of these events has now reached its final finish line. We wish they could all still exist, but races depend on venues, hosts, permits, safety, local approvals, interest and participation plus access to roads and trails. Those things change, and sometimes even a loved event has to end.
But an event ending does not erase what it built.
Each of these races taught us something about safety, logistics, course design, partnerships and taking care of our participants. They are part of iDaphās roots and created the foundation for the events we produce today.
The iDaph you know today was built one start line at a time.
Scroll through the memories. Which of these events did you participate in, and which one do you miss the most? We would love to hear your favorite memory.
