🎉 750 followers! 🎉

A huge thank you to everyone who follows the JMW Events page. It’s pretty cool to see the page reach 750 people!

I realised there are probably quite a few of you who have followed along recently but might not actually know who’s behind JMW Events, so I thought it was time to re-introduce myself.

I’m James, and I’m the person behind JMW Events — a locally owned sound, lighting and AV business based here in Mid Canterbury.

My professional career in the events and entertainment industry began nearly 15 years ago, and over that time I’ve had the opportunity to work across all sorts of events and productions. What started with a passion for sound and a few bits of equipment has grown into JMW Events today.

These days you’ll find me doing everything from:

🎤 Sound & PA for events
🎭 Theatre productions & musicals
💡 Stage & event lighting
🎬 AV, screens & video
🏗️ Staging, truss & drape
📻 Wireless microphones & event communications
🎪 Outdoor & community events
🔧 And quite often, whatever strange problem needs fixing at an event!

One of the things I really enjoy about this industry is that no two events are the same. One week I might be mixing a theatre production, the next setting up a PA for an outdoor event, programming lights, installing equipment or spending hours running cables that somehow always seem to be longer than I thought! 😂

JMW Events has grown because of the support of local businesses, schools, theatre groups, community organisations, event organisers and individuals who have trusted me with their events — so thank you.

I’m looking forward to continuing to build the business, add more equipment and services, and hopefully help make plenty more events around Mid Canterbury sound and look fantastic.

Thrilled to be apart of this! Opening night this Thursday!

A wonderful chance to support the next generation of singers last night! Supplying all things technical for senior students of Jo Castelow. The Variety Theatre Ashburton rooms made for a wonderful space. Adding the new drape kit & black curtains + our new LED lighting really made it come to life!

It was fantastic to have our new LED bars out at the Geraldine High School Ball on Friday night! We also provided a PA system & announcing of the Ball attendees!

The Mahi continues! I’ve been a bit slack on the socials lately but rest assured I’ve been busy! Getting ready for a corporate event tomorrow! It’s great to be able to offer stage decks for these events. Also some new LED Bars to spice it up!
