As summer comes to an end, the DMC Collection by Ria Mooijaart & Partners Open House brings together a global community of DMCs, MICE agencies, corporates and industry partners - all in one beautiful setting.

We have been working with the DMC Collection in the Benelux region for many years, and their Open House has become a real end-of-summer tradition for us. A lot of thought goes into making these few days special, from the stunning locations and great food and drinks to all the little details.

But what we enjoy most is the chance to put the screens aside for a while and spend time with people.

Our fabulous colleagues Dawn and Matilde were there again this summer, representing our Malta and Portugal teams. They had the chance to reconnect with people we’ve worked with for years, meet clients and new faces, and catch up with fellow DMCs from around the world.

It’s a great opportunity to step away from the busy day-to-day of events, exchange ideas, share what’s new in our destinations, and hear what others are working on around the world.

A big thank you to Ria Mooijaart and the DMC Collection for bringing everyone together once again, and for all the thought that goes into making the Open House such a special event.

This summer, our Malta team stepped away from the usual day-to-day for a few hours of learning, teamwork and, of course, some time to unwind by the sea.

Thank you Alex Falzon for an engaging and thought-provoking workshop on different personality styles, helping us explore which tasks drain our energy and challenging us to think differently about how we work together.

What better way to experience Portugal's Golden Coast than by getting out and exploring it?

This past weekend we welcomed a fabulous group of UK MICE professionals to discover Cascais, Sintra and Lisbon through a programme designed to showcase why this region is such an outstanding destination for meetings, incentives and events.

From sailing along the Cascais coastline and exploring the Sintra Natural Park by 4x4, to lunch at the beautiful Seteais Palace, a hands-on Portuguese cooking experience in Lisbon, and a memorable evening at a live Jamiroquai concert, the group enjoyed just a glimpse of the experiences that make this destination so special.

A big thank you to our partners IHG Hotels & Resorts Onyria Marinha Cascais for their warm hospitality and to Mundus Representation for their collaboration in making this destination showcase possible.

It was a pleasure hosting everyone, and we hope to welcome you back to Portugal again soon.

To mark 25 years of ECMeetings, our teams from Malta, Portugal, and Italy, together with international partners, came together in Valletta for the launch of Eku Tambur — a new rhythm initiative promoting social inclusion and wellbeing through percussion.

Inspired by Portugal's Tocá Rufar movement, the initiative uses rhythm as a universal language to bring people together through participation, connection, and community.

As part of this legacy project, ECMeetings will also be sponsoring the drums used for the initiative, helping ensure that more people across Malta can continue to benefit from the programme in the years ahead.

A celebration rooted not only in bringing people together, but also in leaving a positive local legacy.

We're also excited to bring this inspiring percussion experience to our MICE groups, offering a unique team-building activity that creates connection, energy, and a lasting impact beyond the event itself.

Meet Mariana Martinho, Events Executive in Portugal.

Mariana's journey into events began while studying Tourism Management at the Estoril Higher School, where she discovered that creating experiences was exactly what she wanted to do.

From a study adventure in southern Spain to internships in hospitality and local government, followed by her first role delivering events at the Lisbon Congress Centre, every step confirmed she was on the right path. Today, she's completing a master's degree in Communication, Marketing, and Advertising while continuing to grow her career in events.

Mariana loves the details that transform a good event into a memorable one, and nothing beats seeing guests leave with a smile at the end of the day. Her favourite events are those filled with thoughtful touches, creativity, and a dynamic atmosphere.

Her personal motto? "If something scares you, it means you're on the right path." It's an approach she brings to every challenge, and we're delighted to have her as part of the ECMeetings team.

What a fantastic few days in the Algarve💛
Together with our partners at W Algarve, Marriott Luxury Collection and Mundus Representation, we had the pleasure of welcoming a wonderful group of event professionals to experience everything that makes this region such a special destination for meetings and incentives.

From exploring the stunning coastline and discovering the authentic Algarve countryside to enjoying exceptional food, hospitality and unique venues, it was a programme full of memorable moments, great conversations and plenty of inspiration.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and shared this experience. We hope you left with a real sense of what the Algarve has to offer—not just its beautiful scenery, but also its people, culture and the experiences that make events here truly memorable.
